I’ve been trying to get back into writing in the form of short stories. I’m doing one for the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards on the Barnacle world, so we’ll see how it goes. Only a few paragraphs in and I’m starting to struggle on writing convincing plot points. I need to move the plot forward as quickly as possible because of my word count restrictions, but I also need to hook them with good worldbuilding in the exposition.

I’m sure you have much more experience than I do, and I know for a fact your grasp of the language is better than mine. I’m only doing this in an attempt to cultivate a specific writing style I can depend on in the future, for fun.
