“We who shape magic, shape the world.” The Grand Thaumatic Order of archmages is a myth. Its existence has been a rumor throughout history, yet most commonfolk regard it as a fairy tale intended to frighten the conspiratorial. The fanciful tale suggests a cabal of secretive archmages has shaped the course of history since the nations of Etharis began to take shape. They’re responsible for many of…

Tales of a secretive cabal of archmages date as far back as there is recorded history. One of the most infamous conspiracy theories is that the Thaumaturge unleashed the Weeping Pox, only to lose control of it. They then allegedly equipped Morbus Doctore with scientific and alchemical…

There is no proof that the Order has a singular leader. It is entirely plausible that the magnitude of power and independence within the Thaumaturge ranks make singular rule impossible. The members of the Order may co-rule as a council, or even meet as a caucus, to consult and share rather than to command. In addition to the aforementioned possible leaders, several other individuals are suspected…

Tieflings are rarely seen in the Five Nations, and are often treated with fear and suspicion when they are. Rather than being directly descended from fiends, the most common tieflings of Eberron are touched by the malefic energies of one of the planes. Because of this, their appearance varies dramatically. Mabaran tieflings are reminiscent of incubi and succubi, with sinister beauty and small…

Faith is a part of everyday life in the Five Nations. The people of Galifar were devoted to the Sovereign Host, and this echoes through its institutions—marriages are sanctified by Boldrei and judges swear oaths to Aureon. The Sovereign Aureon is the patron of wizards and magewrights, and Cannith artificers look to Onatar and the Traveler for inspiration. Many dragonmarked heirs assert that their…

Practically a runt compared to the other Garmyr, this creature is draped in filthy white robes stained with blood and adorned with a crown of bones. It clutches in its gnarled and ancient clawed hand a staff of bone with bits of rotting flesh dangling from it and a human skull adorning the top. Its wide and toothy maw drips gore as its octarine eyes swirl with a mystical energy. A few among the…

Clerics draw power from the realms of the gods and harness it to work miracles. Because their power is a divine gift, Clerics typically associate themselves with temples dedicated to the deity or other…
