As the mystical thread opens before, you notice eldritch symbols fade into view with an electric crackle that makes the hairs on the back of your neck rise. As you focus intently, you see that it is an invitation for an upcoming development stream, for Friday the 20th of April at 11am PST. As you ponder this, you hear a faint clik-clak clik-clak and turn to see that a moderator has arrived, to ensure the text is legible to all.
Hail and Well Met Travelers!
BadEye will be hosting the next Developer Stream on Friday the 20th of April. This stream will provide further updates from the D&D Beyond team and allow you to have your questions answered. Get all the latest info about what has been happening and participate in the stream. There may even be some goodies to giveaway!
Please post questions you would like answered in the thread below. We will be collating these, and BadEye will do his best to answer as many questions from the forums as well as Twitch Chat.
Did you miss out on the March developer stream (the one where everyone is looking for BadEye in the background)? Watch below!
Character sheet revamp release date? My players and I can't wait, the changes all look like stuff that's great for new players like them!
Also, when will content sharing options be available? Currently if I share content I'm also sharing the adventure! One wrong search and spoilers will appear! (yes I know I can turn it off when people aren't editing their stuff, but it's a hassle)
Any possibility of Kobold Press stuff ever making it into DDB? Specifically, Midgard materials and Tome of Beasts?
For Roll20 integration-- if it's still on the table, is this something that is in the nearer term of the roadmap or something we should not expect this year?
2 Questions, I know your never able to answer when x feature will role out but:
1) Are there plans to allow customised inserts to specific features like fighting styles and eldritch invocations, where they are not always tied to a specific archetype and in the case of fighting styles specific classes. Is there a chance these kind of things we could see ourselves being alowed to make homebrews for maybe under a misc content tab.
2) Critical role content. In this case am not asking about the Taldorei campaign guide more some of the stuff like the gunslinger archetype. It was a pay what you want on the DMs guild like the bloodhunter, I was wondering if there is a chance we can see that sooner due to hopefully less issues due to not needing store implementation.

1) Homebrew subclasses are a massive undertaking. When we see that arrive, what extent of customization will there be? Will we be constrained to the introductions of other subclasses? For example, say a Druid archetype that can wildshape into Plant creatures, is that something that would be possible, or not because there's no precedent set by another existing Druid subclass? Or adding a renewable resource (points) to a Roguish archetype?
Will we be able to change weapon damage type and damage dice?
I asked this question last month, and Badeye sort of addressed it in the stream; he said he thought it was possible already but he would look into it. However, from his summary of the question, it wasn't clear if he understood that my question wasn't (just) about weapon properties like light and finesse, but also about damage type and damage die. We can now change weapon properties, but not damage die or damage type (except to change it to radiant). So, I'd like some clarification about that.
I am curious about D&D Beyond staff usage of the tool. What are your favorite elements so far, released or unreleased? What features are some of you looking forward to most, either in development or so-far-only-proposed? As users we have all these suggestions, but I love to hear what resonates with the gamers among you on a personal level - or maybe you've come up with ideas that you haven't seen proposed yet.
Edit: Ha! No under-handed intent. I was just curious about the things you feel like talking about.
For the upcoming implementation of Subclass Homebrew, will there be support for subclass extensions like the additional Barbarian Totems in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide or the Critical Role Totem of the Duck?
Actually, I would like to see, if possible, Matt's DM's guild content be added for charity. They support 826, and the LA chapter specifically, pretty heavily. If there were some way to add those items to the store for charity at the cost of even just $1-2 each, I think that would be amazing. I own all them via the DMs Guild, but would happily repurchase for a good cause and the ability to use it on [Handy Dandy] D&D Beyond.
Thats true I was just wondering if though the pay what you want could have meant that it would be quicker to get the licence for than the main tal'dorei book. If we can give money to charity (ala Tortle) that would be even better.
Folks, please keep this thread to questions only, not discussion and please avoid quoting other posts - staff need to read through this thread to compile the question list.
Will we ever be getting a DM's screen? I'd like to get a way that I can view the health, Passive Perception, AC, damage/condition resistances/immunities, and a few other useful things on one screen. Although it is possible to look at each screen separately it takes a bit of time, and is easy to miss things. Being able to see everything on just one screen would be very useful.
I have some questions regarding campaign management:
Is there any plans for having a "random generation table" section for all the content I have purchased? Just a compendium section that shows all tables from all source books and make them roll able with automatic dice rollers. So I don't have to go into every source book to find the dungeon table from the DMG, the beholder table from XTGE ect... Basicly just a grouping of all the tables in one view.
I know you are planing general campaign management tools but will you do specific unique tools for wizards campaign modules? As an example functionality for the ToA campaign: A pin that tracks the party position on the Chult map and a button that rolls on the encounter/travel table correctly depending on where they stand on the map. What is want is more automation in published adventures.
Will be able to make our own random generated tables?
One button and deeper NPC generation is there a plan? Let's say I want a Dragonborn Old One Warlock just let me select Race, Class, Subclass and CR.
Other:
Why do you enter the name before race selection in the character creator? If I want a random generated Tortle name how does the system know that I'm a Tortle before selecting it?

What's the prioritization status of Twitch / Virtual Tabletop integration?
Question: Who all from staff is going to Twitchcon this year? I hear D&D will be quite big at the convention.

How's business?
Where are you with managing companions? I have a couple of druids in my campaigns who want that feature more than anything.
