Request: Avrae Bot being able to be added to a private video conference room.
As you know, we cannot use video in a server uless we are toying aroud stuff and mostly it might not work. so video calls can't be done in a server. to be clear, i'm not asking for avrae bot to have voice recognition or being able to make video calls. just that we'd love to have avrae bot in our little game during covid times. after all, there is a chat room in the private video conference too.
This isn't something in D&D Beyonds control, this is entirely down to how discord works.
Discord bots operate in text channels only. You can either use them directly (pm the bot), or add them to a server channel.
There is one universal way of doing video calls on discord, group calls, and one method that's slowly rolling out through the 'Go Live' functionality. The former doesn't allow bots (you can't invite a bot to a group chat, and thus can't have it in a group video call) and the the latter only functions in voice channels (you can't go live in a text channel).
As such, you have to add Avrae to a text channel which is mutually exclusive from any video or conversation that includes video. Unless discord makes a massive change to how they handle bots, voice/video chat, and/or video in voice channels, there's nothing DDB can do.
and you know that they cannot use the API to do that because ? because you know there are user bots that does it already.
so yeah, i'll wait for an official answer on that one.

Avrae already uses the internal API to query data from DDB, that's not the restriction here. The restriction is how Discord separates voice and text channels on servers; there are no bots that can display text in voice channels on discord and there is no way to add a bot to a private chat. As such, it is not possible to have a text based bot appear in the same channel as voice.
That being said, it's a moot point; you can be connected to a voice channel and type in a text channel which is how games are run using Avrae, including on the official DDB Discord server. You connect a voice channel, then query the bot in the matching text channel.
You should start paying attention to the Dev updates. A lot of the stuff you keep mentioning they talk about every week.
I used to follow those updates, but I eventually gave up because I felt like they never talked about anything I was actually interested in.
LOL
Then you can simply check the summary document over the weekend and see what was mentioned in a few minutes.
I actually just went and watched the last five or so of them just to catch up. :) I didn't really hear much around the topics I'm most interested in, though, for example, off the top of my head... homebrew classes. :)
I did like the demo of the dice roller in IIRC the most recent update. It was kinda cool to see it in action. I'm wondering, though, whether that's only available on the character sheets or if that's going to be on the combat tracker (for rolling initiative) or on monster stat pages (for the DM to be able to roll things)... in other words, is this a players-only feature or do DMs get to join in on the fun? If they spoke to that, I might have missed it. LOL
Check out the ones from the last month or so. A bunch of stuff I’ve noticed you ask about in the forums recently has been talked about, and the forums about them have been abuzz with talk of APIs and such.
Alright, I'll dig back a little further, as I didn't see any mentions of exposing an API to users in the ones that I just watched yesterday. Thanks for the heads up!

If you check the document, you can see Homebrew classes were last mentioned in October. They are working on different things but maybe the Variant Features will herald more progress on the topic.
Something that would be really usefull is to be able to add weapons to homebrew monsters, and that it automaticly calculate some of the stats (CR, Passive Perception, Damage, To hit etc) for the ease of making new monsters. Would spare quite some time that we now have to spend writing and calculating.
Said it was in the plans for 2019, just curious if its still somewhere in the plans?
Adam (B4DEYE) replied on the linked thread:
Hello!
No, this feature (obviously) did not end up being prioritized for 2019, and it is still not at this point. This is an example of us adapting to community feedback and changing our plans.
Based on the voting here, there are other areas of focus prior to us tackling this one. It is still definitely planned, but it is not on the immediate horizon.
Not sure if this has been asked before but what I need is FACTION SUPPORT.
This need to be a new category, a bit like a cross between a background and a feat - see Adventures League for a full description of what is entailed plus we will need a level of extensibility for future factions and homebrew factions.
I really was pleased to see factions being added into the game so formally when I first read 5e and have been very please with the use of them especially in the Adventures League but I have limited ability to added these benefits via DDB.

This would be supported by the General Features system, which is on the short term roadmap. i.e. coding hasn't started yet, it is among those anticipated to be "up next" when the necessary resources (i.e. teams/staff) are available (i.e. when they have completed the projects they are currently working on).

Yeah thats a bummer. It would also sorta drive people towards buying more content, because they would see the things they dont have available for the class they are making. BUt whatever, ill deal.
How about making "official" versions of cursed and sentient items to place in a player's inventory without them seeing the extra info related to the curse or sentience? Or have a toggle so that DMs can prevent their players in their games from seeing all of the item info? It kinda ruins the mystery and suspense when the players can see everything an item does when they add it to their inventory.

You can make a “homebrew” copy of the item without that information and only reveal the true original item once they have identified the curse.

I think sentient items usually make themselves known pretty quickly... This would be nice, though I dunno how exactly it'd be handled when players can manage their own characters - i.e. I dunno how they could prevent players from seeing all the item info when players automatically have full permissions (in the system) to manage their own sheets no matter what.

So i came to ask about seeing options during character creation(https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/63941-some-way-to-sort-the-available-purchases-by#c1). because i havent bought everything, and i didnt want to look elsewhere to get a list of things to buy and then have to hunt them down individually here.
And i went and registered at the zendesk, and say that the idea was discussed already, so ill just link the actual zendesk thread here.
