Hey Envaris (or anyone upvoting it) -- When you mention dropbox/onedrive/google drive integration, can you elaborate on what you want? I'm not sure I understand what you're looking for DNDBeyond to do. Are you looking for it to link back to your 3rd party docs? what would the purpose be?
Just curious, thanks!
Hi,
Sure no problem. Happy to elaborate. So the short answer is "it depends". Depends on how deeply the other features are implemented. But let's talk about some easy items.
Image, Audio, and Video assets. These are generally more expensive to store as they are larger. So if say NPC Management feature is implemented and you allow to attach an audio asset to the NPC (so I remember how the NPC sounds). Ideally the audio asset would sit on my DropBox and it would be linked to the NPC (if you want to implement this all within DnD Beyond than even better I don't need that).
Maps, drawings, etc. These I could keep on DropBox and link into a session. if the Map Management feature is developed. Then essentially, I can use whatever maps I want (irrespective of size/quality). DnD Beyond would manage the meta-data associated with that asset (linking to sessions, events, etc). if DnD Beyond decides to provide that as part of the services (and we don't worry where we need to put our art assets great don't need this feature).
Art Assets - custom drawings for items/swords/armor. If I could link my own art assets to certain items. Something associated with an in-game asset (that may change hands). I don't want the image just in my session. People are more excited about a +1 sword that looks like:
Videos are easier if they are from YouTube (as the embed link is sufficient).
Where DnD beyond is off the hook is with respect dealing with royalty free status of the art/audio/video assets.
The document linking is less valuable, if the other features requested are implemented. Where it would be great from a info export point of view. Character Sheets / Auto-save to OneDrive/Google Drive/DropBox as changes are made. An art asset (map) saved to a character's DropBox from a current official adventure.
If the editor remains as-is then I'd want myself and players to instead connect to OneNote Online via this integration.
I realize this feature request may mean many things to other people so please feel free to expand upon it as appropriate.
Hope this helps!
Envaris

Several posts -- Encounter Builder -- Something I think that is important to encounter builder that I haven't seen explicitly mentioned is having some sort of "calculator" to help figure out the easy/normal/hard/deadly encounters based on CR, like what it in the DMG. The idea would be to input # of characters, their level, and also be able to add monsters and automatically calculate the battle CR based on that. Include a section that can add a "modifier" to the CR of the battle or the monster based on environment variables (who has high ground, are lair actions involved, surprise, etc.)
Post 106 - Part about changing monster stats -- This is an excellent idea. I'd much rather be able to add a monster to an encounter and manually adjust statistics to track here, rather than having to create a homebrewed version of the same monster just to level it up/down a few CR. The "quick" ability to do this would be fantastic. Also just being able to set the HP you roll (not have to roll it in DNDBeyond, I might roll the HP with my dice, then enter the value I got as that actual monsters HP -- Goblin 1 might have more than Goblin 2.
I'll comment on the two points above specifically
1) Hopefully within a campaign the system would already have player info (so it should be able to auto-calculate their "team strength" score. I don't want to re-enter something that's already there. I may want an optional field to add other allies (ideally just link in NPCs if that feature is implemented). As a result when I add the monsters into the encounter list. A simple "Green" "Yellow" "Red" would indicator would be cool. Letting me know "Green = this is an easy fight for this group" "Yellow = just right they should survive" "Red = you're killing the group most likely". To help the DM as a tool to balance encounters. Experience DMs can do this on the fly to some degree, new ones (or new to the 5e could appreciate this).
2) Agree, and actually if the above is done, I'd tweak the monsters up or down until we were in the range I want that specific encounter to go. Add to that some summaries on total experience that could be earned from the fight, etc would be nice.

I didn't see a list anywhere. It works in Campaign Management & Homebrew Creation & Forums...so, everywhere?
I figured it out homebrewing an item but using the template for Goggles of the NIght...they had typed in the box something like [s3ense]darkvision[/s3nse]. I just ran with it. Pretty sweet, yea?
The only list I know how to find is here, and that's using the Global Search.

I would like some indication of what level an adventure is tailored for in the purchasing/browse screen. Just a simple 'Suggested Level 8' or some such.

I was about to ask if we get to see the categories, but Matt's post above confused me.
Have they been already posted somewhere and I've failed to see them?
Last post on the previous page. Also, last post in the Wish List thread.
You sure about that I'm not seeing categories listed in either of those posts. They may have been there and been edited and removed. There sure aren't any there right now.

I thought as much, I did see his edit, so was just late to the game in seeing the post. Thanks Matthias.

Integrate this even better and more easily! (drag and drop somehow?)
I wonder if it would be possible in the campaign manager and forum boxes where you write notes for there to be a box at the top for monster, item, and spell (As those might be the most used.) (so it would look like the add picture or link icons)
As you are writing the notes you can go and press one of those buttons (say monster) and where your cursor is it puts [M0nster[ [/m0nster] leaving your cursor now between the start and end points so you can add the name. It would cut out 10-20 key strokes every time you want to add something to the notes.

We decided not to post those results until we got the ok to do so. If we do, we'll post them here!

If you wish to discuss the results of this wish list, please do so in this thread.
Here's a glimpse of what we have - though please bear in mind that there are many factors to be considered in the decision of what features Curse will work on. Please treat the graphs below as just a bit of insight into what was posted in the wishlist thread.
The results are courtesy of Stormknight - He did an amazing job compiling everyone's feedback. Every single feature was summarized in his report, categorized, and sent to staff.
What I've done is gone through the 7 pages of posts and worked out ten categories that the feature requests can fit into, so that we can look at a way of determining which are more requested and/or more popular.
What category does a D&D Beyond API for VTTs fit into?

That would be "Miscellaneous" but it isn't really part of Campaign Management.
With regards the categories, I needed to be able to bring the 140+ requests down to approx 10 categories, so that it's possible to analyse the results in broad terms, so that we can inform future engagement with the community.
Please note though that I am not part of the development team, so these are categories that made sense to me, in terms of grouping features - they have nothing to do with the development process or intended release process. :)
Also, for those who would like a list of the features requested and what categories I placed them in, here they are.
Again, I must emphasize that this is NOT a list of what you can expect from D&D Beyond - this is a list of all of the features requested by users in the Wish List thread. The assignment to categories is subjective and based upon my own opinion.
Asset Management
Create & manage assets: NPCs, villains. Includes personality traits & stats. Name generator.
Create & manage assets: Locations - towns, lairs, countries etc.
Create & manage assets: Sub-locations – Shop, Inn, Temple etc.
Create & manage assets: Factions. Allows npcs and players to be members.
I had an implementation thought about the DM screen. Might be cool to have an "overlay" style sidebar with different expandable boxes. So instead of having a dedicated DM screen page, you could be looking at the adventure compendium and just select a widget from a sidebar.
This is a great summary/categorization of the community needs as described in the forums. It will be great to hear what the dev team thinks about the requests and how (and if) these requests will fit into the future roadmap for Campaign Management.
With Sincere Thanks!
