My dm gave me enchanted bracers that gave me +2 to add to all my strength attack roles. For the past 2 hours, I've been trying to make the homebrew but the modifiers keep adding 4 instead of 2. This is what I did...
I've tried not adding the dice information (changed nothing). I've tried not adding the ability score information (no modifiers showed up). I've tried different subtypes such as: Melee attack, melee weapon attack, and magic item attack withstrength (changed nothing). I've also tried adding a -2 bonus along with the above information but what that did was basically duplicate the modifier making it +8 instead of +4. Then, I played around with the fixed value and found out regardless of the fixed value it was always adding +4.
For context, my strength modifier on my character sheet is a +4. Is it the modifier type or subtype? I played around with it but haven't figure it out.
I'm willing to give up since it's not a big deal and I've already ran 2 hours of my day on this but it would be nice to find a solution to this, so how do I do this and what am I doing wrong?
Just tested it. That should give you +2 to all Strength attack rolls (but not damage).
Edit: When you make a change, follow up by saving using the 'Save Changes' button on the top level of the item. Changes sometimes take up to 20 mins to sync before you can see them on your character sheet, so be patient.
Is there some way for it to just apply to that weapon, seems like if you put the item on it adds +2 to all weapons that require strength?
Yes, that's what it does. Consider using the Magic subtype instead (with a fixed value of 2). It gives +2 to attack rolls and damage rolls with that one weapon only.

what do you mean by "magic Subtype"? where would this be added?

I'm making a tiny fairy race with a trait called Puny Body.
Which says, "As a tiny fairy, you cannot wield weapons that have the heavy property, you have disadvantage on Strength checks, and if you hit with a weapon attack, you halve any bludgeoning damage, piercing damage, and slashing damage dealt by the attack."
how do I modify weapon attack to deal half attack?
The modifier > Bonus > Magic > Fixed 2 DOES NOT make the weapon show nor function as a +2 weapon. I just followed everything step by step and it didn't work.

Modifier Type - Bonus > Modifier Subtype - Strength Attacks > Ability Score - Strength > Dice count - 1 > Dice - d20 > Fixed Value - 2

Modifier Type: Bonus
Modifier Subtype: Strength Attacks
Fixed Value: 2

It worked! Thank.

First dropdown > "Bonus"
Second dropdown > "Magic"
Fixed value > "2"
This gives you a +2 weapon.
My homebrew subclasses (full list here)
(Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace
(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer
(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer
(Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist
(Warlock) The Swarm
Just tried the magic drop down and it hasn't worked. Going to give it time to update.
Edit: I couldn't get it to work, but I just used a plus 2 weapon as a template to get it to do what I needed.
When I try to make charisma ability checks and saving throws have expertise it gives everything expertise, how do I fix this?
Edit: Nevermind it just fixed itself

It does, but homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to show up on the sheet.
