As the title says, I am searching for a way to create a beast companion for my subclass. My problem is, that i cant find options to add the proficiency bonus to things like armor class or attacks. Also i would need to add multiple times my class level as max hp to the starting hp.
Is this currently possible to create through the homebrew section?
You sort of don't have to; under the Extras tab on a character sheet you can add any beast you want as your beast companion (DM permitting of course) and some of the bonuses will automatically be applied, i.e- the hit-points will become the higher of the monster's stat-block or four times your Ranger level, the AC will be increased and I believe the proficiency will match yours.
However, some things are not automatically adjusted, such as save, skill and attack modifiers, because the system for defining these is weirdly manual (though they should have been able to modify the save/skills by comparing the original and modified proficiency score). Hopefully they'll give us the ability to define simple calculations for character/spell based beast companions, summons and similar, but DDB have been dragging their heals on this one.
If the monster is something you intend to keep available for normal use as well, you could just take a copy of it and modify it manually to match the player's current proficiency bonus? Not ideal but it'll work as a simple reminder.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.

This has been my solution. Not ideal, but if you are familiar with making/adjusting monsters it's really not too much trouble to keep it updated.
Honestly thanks dude I got it as close as your could get for a companion but it just wasn't finishing it up. But with this tip I got it too a point that I can work with it and it helps with the subclass I made. Thank you!
Homebrewing monsters wont let me add things like "Hit Points 30 + 5 times your proficiency bonus." it only lets you add numbers to certain boxes, not extra text like this

It’s not even currently possible for the devs to do it for official stuff.

You can homebrew monsters and then go into extras on your character sheet and select them as your pet/beast companion/mount
