Bubbles receives the prompt he was waiting for. He rushes to the spot highlighted by Amble and attacks furiously, finding a satisfying resistance to his weapon as he attacks the area. The amount of water swirling in an animated manner diminishes considerably. (Malignant Sea Current takes 46 magical piercing and radiant damage.)
For a brief moment, Bubbles once again sees a couple of eye sockets and an amorphous mouth form in the water in front of him. By now, the barbarian has collected enough information to come to the realization that the enemy is not hiding in the water, but is made out of water itself.
Based on that Bubbles, hopefully will be able to better track the creature, as well as relying on any help Amble can continue to give.
Postscript to his attacks, Bubbles calls out hurriedly to Amble "Keep your eyes on it and call out if it moves"
Shanty shoots another somewhat awkwardly positioned blast of his magical horn and catches Gar in a surprised state while he is still trying to understand all of the teleporting going on. Gar takes a full blast, as does his protective cube. (Gar takes 16 thunder damage.)
The cube becomes entirely visible for a couple of seconds. Cracks grow rapidly across all six faces and then, in an instant, the entire protective capsule shatters like glass. Panic rises to Gar's eyes for the first time since the party has met him.
(@Shadow: Yes, Semi-Slow still has a hold on Shanty.)
Thinking fast but looking flustered, Gar moves a bit west {AI-24} while still grapplingBarnacle. From there, Gar opens his mouth unnaturally wide once more and begins to vomit another Tidal Wave.
Having seen the trick before, Shanty, Sandlot, and Barnacle brace themselves just in time, although the cleric is not able to maintain concentration on his spell. (Sandlot takes 6 bludgeoning damage; Shanty takes 6 bludgeoning damage, and Barnacle takes 6 bludgeoning damage.)
-> Bless drops from Sandlot, Barnacle, and Bubbles.
Seeing that he failed to bring the "Thief!" down, Gar swims back to {AJ-25} and stares Sandlot down. He lets go of Barnacle.
(@Lerus: No OA 'cause no weapon or Warcaster... well, could try and punch him, I guess but.. not gonna.)
Sandlot in either a move meant to take the high road or simply in awareness of the futility in trying, resisted the temptation to strike as Gar again took the "tactical" approach of retreat, if only to catch more in a tidal wave of corrupted water. Anticipating the move, the aged Locathah both crossed his arms braced for impact. Yet even embowered by both bond and blessing, a sharp gasp escapes at the end as focus on the latter finally comes to an end.
Trembling in pain and breathing heavily, a look goes to the bruises and torn flesh of his arm. 'So this is it' He thought, before a familiar movement in the peripheral drew attention back to an approaching Gar. Seeing the man -- the monster so furious... so flustered, though he perhaps tried to hide it then and there... Sandlot eyes grew half-lidded, and with a steady few breaths, the trembling is forced to stop. "Sorry, this one is.... Gar... Free you, this one cannot... of her damnable hooks..." He smiles softly up at Gar and brings his hands together as if in prayer. "But know its not for naught.... Peace there will be again... Your folly undone... All, I promise... will be well..."
As he then opens his palms a miraculous sudden stream of bubbles rises up from below, obscuring Sandlot just enough to allow him to fall back to Amble.
(@Ori: No worries, creative flavor text is always welcome.)
Perhaps counting himself lucky to still be standing, Sandlot has a change of heart regarding Gar's prospects for redemption. The cleric confuses Gar one more time and swims away toward hopes of magical healing.
LEGENDARY ACTION
Gar relentlessly pursues Sandlot, using his movement to give chase {AP-27}. This movement does not cause opportunity attacks.
Bubbles gains a couple more bruises. Even the barbarian begins to look a little battered. The invisible enemy does not move away this time. (Bubbles takes 14 bludgeoning damage, already halved.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Movement:
Barnacle gives chase following the man-crab as he in turn pursues Sandlot. (AO,27).
Bonus Action: Second Wind (8 plus 9 healing)
Feeling the pull of destiny close at hand, Barnacle feels rejuvenated, eager for the coming trading of blows; even if he feels it's been a bit one sided so far, with Gar more interested in squeezing Sandlot like a tube of ointment.
Action: Attack (Plus Barnacle's Action Surge)
Barnacle lets Fork do his talking.
Attack 1: 20 Damage: 13
Attack 2: 27 Damage: 12
BUT WAIT: THERE'S MORE!
Attack 3: 23 Damage: 14
Attack 4: 11 Damage: 9
(OOC Barnacle will also use a superiority die to make the first attack that hits Gar a tripping attack. Doing an extra d8 damage, so 8 and forcing Gar to succeed on a DC16 strength save or be knocked prone. Third time's the charm, right?)

Barnacle catches up with Gar while filling his gills with water. (Barnacle recovers 11 HP.)
Once in position, the fighter attacks repeatedly but methodically. The first attack rebounds off some of the barnacles covering Gar's body, but the second pierces skin. Noticing his success, Barnacle flips Fork and forces Gar into a floating prone-like angle. (Gar takes 11 magical piercing damage.)
(@MB: At this point, you gain advantage on the other two attacks. Here are extra attack rolls on your behalf: 19 and 25. I guess you could also add Emboldened Bond to that 15, so here it is: 4.)
Finally catching Gar in one of his well-practiced moves, Barnacle shows what he has been trained to do. Two additional jabs are well placed and earn a scream of pain from the enemy. Gar is starting to look injured. (Gar takes 22 magical piercing damage.)
LEGENDARY ACTION
Despite all the pain, Gar is still of a single mind at this moment. Releasing an unconsciousSandlot from his grasp, Gar quickly closes his Claw around the clerics' Bag of Holding and snags it out of Sandlot's body, which is unable to fight back. The magical purse is now completely enclosed within Gar's closed claw.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing a life being pushed so close to its end right in front of him, Amble's priorities shift from aiding Bubbles to preserving life. Amble's faint green light shines brightly for a moment and they speak: "Let Eldath fortify your spirits."
All four locathah and the whale feel partially but instantly rejuvenated. Even Amble's few cuts heal. (Whale-Gulp, Shanty, Bubbles, Barnacle, Sandlot, and Amble each recover 21 HP.)
11. Barnacle (57/104; red) - Darkvision,Emboldened Bond (d4);
11. Shaolar Quanderil (gray)
10. Amble (90/90; lime) - Emboldened Bond (d4);
09. Undead Sailor (x3) - two of them are turned/roaming and effectively out of combat for now;
MAP:
NOTES: I assume that the Driftglobe is shedding Light from where Gulp is, although it is currently out of play. Same applies to Bubbles' Candle of the Deep, which is in play. The light blue musical note token represents Shanty's Tentacle of the Deeps.
Gar does not say anything this time. He simply waits a second or two before an arm of coral shoots from a nearby structure, covers him completely, and teleports him away.
No one can tell where Gar went through darkvision or the limited light sources alone. Not even Gulp's echolocation is picking up Gar's location at the moment.
(Bubbles, Whale-Gulp, and Shanty are up next. Bubbles is still engaged in melee with the invisible enemy, and Gulp can also pinpoint its location at around {AM-29}. Shanty must choose between an Action and a Bonus Action this turn, and cannot take Reactions. When taking any action that would grant him multiple attacks, he instead can only make one attack. He can roll a CON saving throw {DC 18} at the end of his turn to escape this effect.)
Slow whale's brain compared to options - swimming around in search of ever-teleporting enemy or attacking the one he could sense, and the close one won. Gulp-whale moved toward invisible something, attacking Bubbles (or the other way around, it was unimportant). He sung his tale first, then tried to bite the invisible foe:
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
A little surprised to see the strikes from Whale-Gulp swinging in the space before him, Bubbles is a little startled, but sensing that whatever he is fighting is still within range, Bubbles ignores the interruption and continues to slash to and fro with Last Rites, seeking to cut this thing to shreds, finishing what he started (still attacking Recklessly and with Rage)

Simultaneously opting for the "easier" enemy to spot. Bubbles and Whale-Gulp descend on it intent on putting it down for good. A tail swipes, Last Rites pokes, the whale chomps a bit too closely to Bubbles for the barbarian's comfort. It is hard to pinpoint the exact moment when the water about them looses its life and returns to being simple water again. (Malignant Sea Current takes 62 magical piercing, bludgeoning, piercing, and radiant damage and is DEFEATED.)
Nearby, Shanty moves a bit toward the darkness {AG-28} and tosses a lit coin toward the coral cluster to his east {AF-33}. The trick fails to reveal anything new.
When Sandlot awakens, seeing Amble hovering nearby bring a brief smile of thanks. But as he looked about searching for a hopefully... at least incapicitated or still engaged Gar, squinting and glancing about reveals troubling news. He immediately then went for his bag, but seeing it too gone elicits a warbled groan as the aged Locathah righted himself. "More help, we need... uh... Amble? Know where our fallen friend, you do?" He asked, and upon receiving that answer would immediately heads for Undertow's body, knowing the time to revive the Locathah was quickly closing.
If /not/ able to be told(at least on his turn), he turns his attention to listening for the sea miscreant, as well as trying to feel out the currents, hoping they might reveal something of the man's current whereabouts if anywhere close by at least. And if so, he is sure to call it out to the others!
(If Amble is not able to immediately direct Sandlot):
Amble welcomes a fellow follower of Eldath back into consciousness and, when asked, promptly points in the direction where Undertow was laid to rest. The tortle is quite impressed by the large diamond Sandlot pulls out of a pouch while moving toward the dead ranger.
The cleric arrives and lays the diamond on the ranger's chest. Undertow's death being only a recent development, Sandlot finds the body in perfect conditions for the express ritual he is about to perform. In a flash, Eldath's light fills the diamond and the precious stone magically sinks into the ranger's chest, disappearing completely in the process. Undertow opens his eyes, but remains silent and prone for a few moments longer.
-> Undertow has 1 HP.
(The water-based enemy is dead, so Barnacle is up next.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Suspecting that Gar has sequestered himself away to do Gar related things, likely nefarious in nature, Barnacle casts an eye about for anything man-crab shaped.
