Still shocked at how fast these things could move, Ato can do little but blindly strike back at the abomination which had attacked he and Veythe. The pain of the double strike by the tentacles had caused him to lose the thread of the spell he'd cast, so he had no sense of where or how these things might be vulnerable. Broadspear held before him, Ato times the serpentine movement of the tentacles and lunges out of it's reach to create some distance between them. Thrusting out at the body of the thing, his spear is almost casually knocked aside by a flailing tentacle and misses his mark. "Let's go Veythe - we need room to maneuver. Outside, if you can make it!"
Slipping through the doorway into the open air beyond, he moves off to the side of the doorway, hoping to be able to strike at the thing as it exits to follow him, if indeed it does so.
Rezivah, in the midst of her screaming, suddenly felt a sharp pain begin to resonate from her torso. Two hideously purple tendrils were embedded in her flesh. Along with a pain, a strange sensation filled Rezivah. It made her want to cradle herself and vomit. The tentacles were pulled from her flesh abruptly as the thing rushed towards the direction of the door. She clutched her wound in utter agony, unable to move.
Miraculously, in Rezivah's turmoil, her gaping wound began to close. Mana began to seal it slowly. Though not entirely healed outright, the agony was extremely more tolerable. Now, with a clearer mind, Rezivah heard music playing amidst the chaos and insanity. Refocused, Rezivah thought of her immediate survival and shielded herself in white mana, hoping this magic armor would prevent further injury.
Looking at the surroundings for the first time since the horrors appeared, one was in a dense webbing. The other no where to be seen at the moment. With this opportunity, Rezivah bolted for the door, moving past the goblin's pet, only to see the other aberration outside the hedron making its way to the wilderness. Do I allow such a thing to get away and wreak unknowable havoc? Do I risk my life here to stop it?
(OOC: Rezivah casts Mage Armor [AC 15], moves to 2C)
In the flurry of combat, Kayn barely notices one of the creatures is standing right next to him. Veythe's tune fills him with confidence as he prepares a bolt of fire. Just as he's about to launch it he catches a tentacle flying towards him. It's an easy dodge, and the fire bolt flies true, igniting the creature still part-way in his webbing. The sounds of burning flesh makes him grin. "VAAAASHIE! Where are you??" As he says this the goblin begins doubling in size. The shock of the experience is written all over his face. "Whhhaaaaaa?"
Kayn could feel the pain of the gnarlid. One more assault like that and he would lose his bonded creature. He pulls from the gnarlid's strength reserves and taps into its built up adrenaline supplies. The gnarlid bursts forward and nearly doubles in size with a loud roar.
(Kayn casts Fire Bolt, 20 damage, calls out) (Gnarlid uses action for adrenaline surge)
Continuing on its escape route, the abberation by Kayn lashes out with two of its crimson tentacles and a set of claws in passing as it pointed appendages perforate the ground due to its movement. With split-second timing, Kayn throws up a shield spell in retaliation, causing the creature's attacks to skid harmlessly off the shield. It continues on its path, scampering down the cliff begin the group and out of sight, though still within hearing as its tentacles lap and its claws rake against the stone.
The other aberration, seeming just as eager to leave the hedron, lashes out at Veythe and the gnarlid, its crimson tentacles piercing the gnarlid while its set of three claws tear through Veythe's armor and into her flesh. Just before leaving Veythe's reach, she summons all of her bravery and lands a kick squarely inbetween the creature's legs with a satisfying crunch. It shrieks a near ear-piercing scream as it tumbles out of the hedron.
Guided by the Trickster, Ato sees through the creature's unpredictable patterns of movement, timing his spear until the head is in clear view. Lunging forward, he swiftly pierces the creature's featureless head, the tip of his broadspear protruding through the creature's skull, showering anyone and anything on the opposite side in a spray of silver liquid. Using the monster's momentum, he slams the aberration to the dirt with his spear. It drops to the ground, writhing and twisting above the green grass. Letting out a last series of high-pitched chirps, the creature's appendages contort and retract towards the body, akin to a spider dying, as it finally rests still.

It's now or never.. It's now or never.. It's now.. It's now! Rezivah foregoes her strong sense of self-preservation and fear, running after the abomination down the cliff. It isn't so far yet! Rezivah taps into the mana of her surroundings as she leaps down, weaving her arms elegantly. A long, electrical whip coils from her fingertips reaching an impressive length, several times her own height. It crackles and surges as Rezivah pulls it back, swirling the whip over her head and lashing it forward. It flashes down at its target with incredible speed, ensnaring the creature in its electric tendrils. With a great two-handed heave, Rezivah clenches her bared teeth and pulls the monster up the cliff, the whip shocking the thing as it is dragged. "C'mon!" Rezivah screamed. "We can't let it get away!"
(Not sure what to say placement wise. Rezivah jumped 5 ft down the cliff onto a boulder. Pulled aberration 10 ft towards her. It's now 5 ft from her)
Veythe wheezed. At least she got a damn hit in again. Stupid monstrosity. She stumbled her way out of the hedron, kicked the beast as she moved past, and blew a light and airy song on Rest while she held a hand over her wounds. With a snarl on her lips because ow, and the sight of Vasha oh thank you there is Vasha Veythe played out a sharp staccato of sounds like the beating of war drums. Except on a pan flute since Veythe didn't have drums and didn't quite know how to use them.
Kayn's new massive body is awkward to maneuver, but spending time in beast's bodies he easily adjusts to the new feel. Moving forward just enough to get an angle on the creature trying to escape, he launches another web at the critter. The mana surrounding the cliffside coalesces into a sticky thread-like substance all over the creature.
Keeping focus in the hedron, Kayn's gnarlid keeps watch guarding the door.
Vasha ran to the edge of the cliff and stopped, shocked at the sight below her. Not sure if she was hallucinating or not, she wasn't sure she could comprehend what she was seeing. She absently threw her hooks, but missed horribly.
Emboldened by his kill, Ato rushes to the cliff edge and stabs down at the remaining abomination. Over eager, his strike misses it's mark once again. Injured as he is, the wiley rogue then ducks back away from the edge and it of the reach of its flailing tentacles.[Attack: 8, miss, Disengage, move back to B4]
The abomination shrieked, as if pleading for the group to release it. Its struggles only caused it to be further entangled as it fought helplessly against the strong strands of webbing.

Abomination outside the hedron: 22 point of damage taken; currently 10 feet from the cliff's edge, restrained in a web Kayn created
Rezivah's feeling of accomplishment is short-lived as the mana around her and the creature condensed into thick webbing, not unlike what was in the hedron. The creature struggles mightily but only entangles itself further. Not wanting to be left trapped and helpless in the web whenever the thing burst through, Rezivah pushed and fought to try to release herself, but failed. Well, might as well go out with a show. Rezivah opened her palms and let loose numerous darts of condensed white mana, each magically trained on and striking the monstrosity without fail. With each hit, bits of chitin and purple flesh explode from the creature, flying into the deeper recesses of the web, turning it into some horribly grotesque, macabre art. After some tell-tale squirming, the creature lay still in its trappings. Rezivah was relieved. And also proud. Proud that she held such power. She looked at the remains of this monster. Yeah.
Still caught in the web, Rezivah looks up the edge of the cliff. "Hey! Can we drop this? It's dead!"
Kayn releases the web that surrounded the chitinous mess and the exploding sorcerer. The web begins to melt back into the earth. So many darts of mana flew from Rez's hands that the goblin lost count. It was an amazing feat and it cemented his faith that Rezivah was more than meets the eye. Looking about at his companions, he sees them all a bloody mess. If not for his magical shield, he'd be one as well.
"We should take a bit of a rest," He says. "But inside... or out? We can not be sure that we can open the door again if it closes."
The webbing soon erodes into nothing, releasing Rezivah and letting the monstrosity's body collapse in a broken heap. Rezivah climbed up the shallow cliff slowly, one hand holding her somewhat healed wound and the other picking at her attire and skin, impulsively. There was no trace of the webbing on her, but still. Once at the top, she shook herself. Crooking her neck at an angle, it made a slight pop. She looked at the stab in her stomach. The healing magic did a well-enough job of sealing the most lethal of punctures, but she was still severely injured. With the adrenaline fading, the pain slowly ebbed in.
"Yes, I believe a rest is needed. As for where, I don't know. Why don't we camp ourselves surrounding the door while left open? Maintain a perimeter while resting."
Ato leaned, panting, on his broadspear. As the excitement of battle faded, the pain of his injuries rose to the fore and he realized how badly he was injured. "I think we can all benefit from a quick rest, but we need to be sure that door can't close after the work we put into opening it. Let's take advantage of Kayn and his gnarlid being so big and get a larger boulder moved into the doorway to block it from closing." He looks around at the assembled, battered crew. "We did well here. Despite the toll, those things are dead and we are not. We've had our problems along the way here, but this teamwork is what matters." Groaning a bit as he gets moving again, he starts to search the are for a suitably big rock. "Care to give me hand, Vashie?" He gives her a mischievous grin as uses Kayn's pet name for the now-bald monk.
Vasha balked at the dead creature and the various missiles that the vampire had produced. She shook her head, unhappy with how utterly useless she'd been. Everyone was hurt. Even Veythe. She snapped her head to look at the human and quickly walked to her. "Are you okay?" She looked at Veythe's wounds, and was glad to see they didn't seem too horrible. Vasha gave her arm a quick squeeze then turned her attention to Ato, and his request. Vashie. Why were all these people calling her Vashie? She sighed and nodded. "Fine, but you should tend to your wounds. I'll keep watch while everyone rests."
Searching with Ato, they were able to find a boulder big enough to prop into the door. Along with Kayn's gnarlid, they were able to easily roll it into place. "Go rest," she said to Ato, then crouched on top of the boulder, facing into the hedron, with her weapons at the ready. Nothing more would get out without her knowing.
"Thanks Vashie!" He had called out for her help by instinct during the battle. That was odd. Perhaps he's starting to rely on her strength. He sits the gnarlid next to Vasha as they begin the rest and starts sewing together the poor creature's wounds. Veythe's soothing music helped him to concentrate, and a few minutes later the Gnarlid was looking as good as new. "He's sore, but he should be fine," he says. Kayn also took this opportunity to refocus his mana. He had used one of his most powerful spells twice and he needed to pool his mana so that he could cast it again if it were needed.
Setting up a perimeter around the hedron's entrance, the group takes a moment to rest and recuperate from their initial encounter with these ancient alien aberrations. As their adrenaline dies down, they notice the near-silent sounds of a low vibration emanating from the hedron's surface. For whatever it might mean, it appears that the hedron is "active" to some extent. Kayn theorizes that perhaps that is what's causing their spells to surge with wild mana.
As everyone rests, Vasha keep vigilant watch, perched on the boulder which blocks the hedron's door from sealing, all the while listening and watching for signs of more of these wretched abominations. About twenty minutes into their rest, Vasha can hear the skittering of feet, quickly followed by high-pitched wails similar to what they heard earlier, coming from the far hallway. The wails catch everyone's attention, who quickly snap to to encounter whatever new threat is emerging.
Vasha jumped off the boulder, weapons at the ready. Of course this couldn't be so easy. Being close to the hedron again made her uneasy, but she had to prove to herself she could handle it. Whatever was coming, she was prepared. "Ready yourselves," she said. Momentarily closing her eyes, Vasha centered herself, focusing her Ki. She exhaled, and prepared a punch.
Still shocked at how fast these things could move, Ato can do little but blindly strike back at the abomination which had attacked he and Veythe. The pain of the double strike by the tentacles had caused him to lose the thread of the spell he'd cast, so he had no sense of where or how these things might be vulnerable.
