Veythe frowned, and then sighed and settled next to Vasha as Vesra, Rezivah, and Kayn focused on the door. She reached out a hand to touch Vasha's shoulder and hummed the tune she sang yesterday at the river. She kept up the steady beat with a soft tapping and a small smile in Vasha's direction as she weaved the magic of restoration as best she could. Once she finished the song, she stepped back.
I hope that helps you some, Vasha, Veythe signed, and turned her attention toward the doors curiously. "Now what is this about runes and mana?"
So many interruptions! Why does no one ever listen to the goblin, why? Kayn stops his scanning of the runes on the hedron and turns to the bard.
A smile spreads across his face and he gives a wide gesture with his clawed hand. "My dear bard," he starts. "If we are to open this hedron, we need to focus specific mana into specific runes." He moves his gesture to the hedron then promptly turns back to the bard, "Which means we will need you to re-focus all of your mana to that of the forest and the feeling of instinct. No one else is able to do this but you. You are essential in opening the hedron. Now..." He gestures behind him and says, "Please go rest and refocus. We are going to need you, and everyone else, soon."
His gnarlid is still focused on the hedron, watching as the runes shift and change.
Vasha felt a wave of magic ripple through her body again. But before she could give her thanks to Veythe, her stomach turned sour. She dashed away from the group and began to purge the contents of her stomach into a bush. Feeling better, Vasha wiped her mouth and stood again. While the compulsion to eat dirt was gone, as far as she knew, she felt completely drained. She was going to say something to the group, but they all seemed too busy. Without a word, Vasha made her way back to the camp and fell on her bedroll, where she was quickly asleep.
With everyone else trickling over to the hedron to watch Kayn conduct his research, Ato follows as well. Until his assistance is needed to supply the blue mana, he settles himself off to the side to watch and wait. When Kayn notes Resivah's improved condition and asks about her feeding, he tenses, but with her answer forces himself to relax again.
Rezivah's revelation with the tablet quickly provided the group the location and meaning of the three theorized remaining runes: blue, red, and green. Locating them on the circular door, the group rested, focusing their mana and realigning it to their own personalities and what each individual needed: Ato focused on blue mana and its principles; Rezivah on black. Veythe thought of white mana, where Kayn refocused his mana, shifting it to red. Vesra prepared a spell that might be strong enough and well-aligned with green mana.
Having refocused their mana, the group prepared their positions on the door. Placing their hands on over the appropriate runes, they surged mana into their runes. In response, the runes flared to life: the white rune glowed with an angelic white light; the blue rune glowed a deep oceanic blue; the black rune flared with blackish-purple flames; the red green flared with fire, thought caused no burns; the green mana pulsated green light like a heartbeat. The earth trembled as the door seemed to thin, before slowly rolling and sliding into a recess within the wall. Air and white dust blew out, enshrouding the group in a thick cloud. When the dust settled, the group could see clearly into a large room. Along either side, the ground was raised about five feet, with stone staircases leading up to the railing-enclosed levels. White, chalky ground seemed to snake around the entire room: along the walls, ceiling, pillars, and ground, covering upup etched runes along the walls and ground.

With the hedron open Veythe stared for a moment, jaw dropped and eyes wide. Then she let out a little squeal and started to practically skip right past everyone into the hedron with a wide grin on her face. She craned her neck around, searching for anything that could possibly be dangerous. As she moved she noticed the the chalky portions of the ground appeared unstable. She worried about its ability to support her weight, and when she pressed her foot down it crunches into the floor. White dust is released from the floor and the pressure of her foot--for the moment the ground remains stable.
Whatever the dust is, though, Veythe has no idea.
"Ground's a bit weird," Veythe called back to the others. "Otherwise it seems ok!"
(moved to 8d, rolled 15 on investigation for traps and 12 for investigation for white dust)
"Let me check the entrance before..." The words aren't even out of Ato's mouth before Veythe pushes past and into the hedron. "Dammit, Veythe, WAIT!" He quickly scans the immediate area of the door and just beyond with a practiced eye. "As far as I can tell, the chalky patterns? Something has been moving around in there and leaving that behind, like a snail does slime. Those have been disturbed, but I can't say how recently. It could be - I really don't know, so can't even guess. This door is more of an issue for now. It will close behind us once we all go in. The mechanism doesn't look particularly strong, so I think we can wedge it open with a rock or branch shoved into it so that it doesn't trap us inside, but can't be positive."
"I'll go grab Vasha," Vesra gasped, the sight of the inside of the hedron taking her breath away.
She hobbled back to the campsite, not particularly quickly, calling out to her twin as she walked. "Vashie!" She shouted. "It worked, we opened it!" She reached her sister breathlessly, grabbing her shoulder with a large grin on her face. "We opened it! There's a whole... You need to see it to believe it. Come on, we're going inside." The druid leaned on Vasha for support as they rushed back.
Vasha startled awake, leaping to her feet, when she heard her sister yell her name. "What?" She was confused. They'd opened the hedron? "What? No..." She looked afraid. "Vesra, I think this is bad. All those things I saw? I have a really bad feeling about all this."
Kayn beams with joy as the door opens up. Veythe rushes past everyone and Ato begins searching the immediate entrance. When Vesra mentions getting Vasha, he nods to her and waits at the entrance with his gnarlid.
"This is not the time to be reckless," Kayn says. "If the hedron was opened before, that means another group has opened it. Also, time may flow differently while we are in here. Be ready for anything." He nods to Ato to indicate he will not go further until the mer gives an all clear for them to proceed behind him. Baby steps.
Rezivah didn't know what to expect once the door moved. A blinding light? Darkness? One of those.. abominations? She steeled herself as the opening slid over. White dust immediately encompassed the air around the party. As it cleared, a very well lit, white chamber was seen beyond the entrance. It looked.. strange. It was all alabaster. Carefully constructed. The bard just went straight ahead. This party needed to stop doing that, but a few moments later Veythe proclaimed her thoughts of the floor and that she believed there to be no traps. Ato protested her aloud and made known his own thoughts on the entrance. Another thing he notes was the writhing pattern on the floor. Something made those irregularities, something other than whomever made this hedron. It was too distinct from the rest of the construction. Rezivah, after some initial hesitation, went in, stepping slowly on the ground. Her elbows and knees were bent slightly as she walked, her body prepared for some sort of.. attack? She felt her weight shift the dust around beneath her feet as she moved up to one of the immediate pillars, her gaze fixed upon it. Her gait relaxed as she studied the runes written across its face.
She turned to the rest of the group. "I believe Ato is right. Something made those markings on the floor, and I do think we should pry the door." I don't believe anything would want to be stuck in here..
Ato took a breath and looked at Kayn. "We should wait for Vesra to get back with her sister before we go any further, " he says loud enough to be heard by Veythe and Resivah inside. "We need to do this together."
Just seconds after Veythe steps through, blood-curdling, hollow wails seems to echo down both the connecting hallways to this main room... a horrid sound, unlike anything you have heard. It causes you to nearly writhe in your skin as goosebumps dot your arms. Your stomach drops when you realize that the sounds are drawing closer, and fast.
Bursting through the narrow hallways on either side of the entrance room, two writhing, large monstrosities, carrying themselves with two pointed appendages, skitter across the floor. Multiple limbs and tentacles seemed to erupt from random sections of their chitinous, fleshy bodies. They seemed partially decayed, their flesh segmented in an asymmetrical latticework. Pastel hues shone dimly from inside their bodies, the soft color a mockery of their horrific nature.
Veythe gaped in horror for all of half a second before she yelled, "SHIT! ******* SHIT!" No way, no how, nuh uh she was not dealing with this! Those things looked--looked--"GIANT BUG PEOPLE, **** NO!" She unhooked her Rest and Bravery from her belt and just straight up bolted. Those things were too far away for any of her defensive spells or cantrips to be of use and she really didn't want to stick around and be bug food.
Hearing Veythe freak out, Kayn did the only thing he could think of. He pulled a small bit of spiderweb from his pouch and flung it forth. Summoning the mana around him, the webs expanded in size until it wrapped around everything in the hedron. "VASHA!!" He yelled, "We need you!"
His gnarlid charges forth and stops right at the edge of the webs, watching for whatever comes barreling through them.
(Kayn Casts Web from C7 to F10, calls out.) (Gnarlid Moves to D6, Dodge Action)
There was some form of shrieking coming from further in. It could not be placed with any living thing. It was alien in purity. When the makers of these screeches appeared, Rezivah froze where she stood.
"Chiiiild..." The creatures raked their claws as they approached. Rezivah saw them, but wasn't looking at them. In her eyes was that giant, horrible statue from a dream. Her dream? It was just a dream, right?
"Become onnne with meeee.." The statue wasn't a statue. It was a shell, vast and empty inside, faceless and grotesque, waiting to swallow her up. She couldn't move.
Veythe ran back towards the direction of the door, out of view. A dense webbing suddenly appeared in the center of the chamber. There was shouting, indiscernible.
"Hungerrr... Mountainnn..." Rezivah's eyes widened and glistened as tears streamed down her quivering face. The horrid thing opened its ever yearning maw, bigger than her, bigger than this hedron. "Hungerrr... Mountainnn..." The monster lunged forward and swallowed her.
Rezivah screamed holding her head.
(OOC: Rezivah is stunned for the round, taking psychic damage.)
Horror welled in Ato's chest as he got a glimpse of the alien monstrosities within he hedron. Still, this was why they were here, and the things needed to be destroyed if they were to go any further. He draws a javelin from the sling across his back, and stepping through the doorway (Move to E5) Ato calls upon what minor magic he has, looking for some insight into how to defeat these things. (Cast True Strike).
The chitin on their bodies vibrates, emitting a low, quickly pulsating drone as both of their tentacle's colors shift from a crimson red to a deep purple, and they lunge towards the group. Tentacles, claws and smaller appendages hook onto the walls, ceilings, and pillars around them as they effortlessly scale towards you. The one on the right's body seem to contort and twist as it speedily slides through the smaller gap, releasing two of its tentacles towards the screaming vampire. Piercing her flesh, the tentacle's color gradually shifts from the base of it to the end of the appendage, back to its original crimson red. Quickly releasing the tentacles, it continues moving forward, scampering along the outer wall. As it releases from the pillar with one of its claws, it brings down the claws on Kayn-gnarlid in an abstract and quick fashion, raking across its side. Returning with a bite of its own, Kayn-gnarlid rips out a section of the creature's arm, the alien flesh resting in the gnarlid's mouth. It still seems to writhe and move on its own accord, with a taste unlike anything you've ever experienced... it's actually quite good.
The second abberation scampers onto the far wall and launches itself into the webbing. Bursting through the initial portion and dexterously maneuvering through the other strands, half of its grotesque body protrudes out of the webbing, hanging just above the ground. Two purple tentacles launch at Ato in unison with a set of sharp claws towards Veythe. While Veythe is able to duck under the claw's swinging motion, Ato attempts to allow the claws to phase right through him, though he is struck just milliseconds before he can complete the action. Piercing his bluish-flesh, the tentacle's color gradually shifts from the base of it to the end of the appendage, back to its original crimson red, as if pushing the color into Ato.

Veythe squeaked as she ducked under the claws, the creature right up into her face. She slipped five feet to the left with the movement, lowered Bravery, and raised Rest to her lips. She tripped a quick, lilting, healing tone; her intention focused straight on Rezivah. She leaned to peer at the vampire as she played and sighed as a few of the wounds cleared up. Once that was done, Veythe quickly let out a sharp tune, harshness and curiosity in equal measure. Something she hoped a goblin would enjoy.
