What do you feel makes an elf an elf? Tolkien's were immortal and could reincarnate, fairy tales had them by like gnomes, etc.
I really only see one thing that all elves have in common: pointed ears.
There's more: Long hair, slender body, otherworldly beauty. A lot of fantasy races have pointy ears, including gnomes, goblins, tieflings, and orcs.
I'm not saying anybody with pointed ears is an elf, only that elves always have pointed ears. Long hair, otherworldly beauty and slender body are all qualities that plenty of fantasy elves lack. Tolkien's elves and D&D elves always have pointed ears. However, there are plenty of elf characters without any or all of the three qualities you listed.

hey cool found somewhere for liking elves, like I do. :D
So I'm playing Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor and when you interrogate or dominate an orc, and as Celebrimbor takes over he somtimes says "Edwenno o' gwath" along with other phrases, & because he's an elf I'm wondering if it's elvish, (I'm sure it is) ut what does it mean? he also says some other lines (Both English & elvish) but I want to know this one specifically.

Yeah that's elvish. I've seen other people ask that one before, I'm pretty sure I saw someone mention it's something along the lines of "march forth from the shadow."

In my world Azabas, Elvish is very similar to Gaelic and Irish.

Fun fact, Tolkien actually took some inspiration from Welsh for it.

Could you argue that the Elves were analogous to the Celts and other early inhabitants of Britain and Men (humans) were analogous to the later Roman and Anglo-Saxon invaders?
Who needs a signature? No-ody ever reads them, -esides, normally it's just quotes from people. Well great, now i'm just going on and on, is this a signature now? No. It's not. I don't need a -ig old signature at the -ottom of my posts. CAUTION: I AM THE LOGIC DESTROYER, DO NOT COME NEAR ME WITH LOGIC, FOR IT WILL BE DESTROYED.

By the way, Edwenno o’gwath means March forth from the shadow. Celebrimbor shouts it. Along with “Ochedin Valannor” meaning “renounce the blessed realm”

Hello. It has come to my attention that The Elven Guild exists. I am the leader of the Dwarf Lovers Association. I think it would be in our best interests to declare a non-combat treaty. Reply here if you agree.
