Yup exactly the same. It’s been reported by a few people and they keep pretending it’s a user error issue or an account formation issue when it’s clearly a back end problem.
it’s actually really annoying as it renders the combat tracker next to useless
I am curious so I tried to test it. I got MTOF through the Legendary Bundle as well, and the bug seems to only affect certain monsters. Strangely, Amnizu and Drow Inquisitor do not show up correctly and tells me to go buy them, but Amnizu (Summoner Variant) and Drow Inquisitor (Summoner Variant) do show up correctly. None of the Abishai show up correctly either.
The monsters in red are the ones that do not show up correctly and tells me to go buy them in the market place. The only pattern I notice is that only monsters that are listed as from MTOF are highly likely to be affected by the bug, but the bug does not ever affect the (Summoner Variant) ones.

Edit: I clicked through all monsters again to test things out. All monsters listed in orange also no longer work anymore. Basically, any monster that is tagged to be from MTOF no longer works, and the only exception to that rule are summoner variants.
Because all I’ve done is exactly the same things I’m suggesting to you lot.
Hey Sposta, can you try selecting any of the Abishai, Eladrin, Star Spawns, or any of the monsters I highlighted in red, and see if they pop up for you?
Since nobody mentioned Allip not showing up, I think Allip is probably fine for everyone. However, if you selected Eladrin and it does not show up for you, then the bug might affect people who bought MTOF by itself too, and not just those who got it as part of a bundle.
Monsters from Tome of Foes are showing that I don't own them in the ancounter builder even though I own the book. Specifically looking at the Drow Inquisitor.
@IamSposta. That's actually not the problem. All that does is make sure you can select them.
I can select and add them but I get "To see and search this monster's full stats, unlock the Red Abishai by purchasing Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes on D&D Beyond or purchasing this monster individually."
I own Moredenkainen's Tome of Foes, and can actually look up the monster just fine and see it's statblock via search, but it isn't showing up on the encounter builder. In my case it's the various Abishai that I get the message on.
Do you guys have the same issue with the same monsters that I do? If everyone that got MTOF through a bundle has issue with the same set of monsters, maybe that will help the team figure out what the issue is.
If everyone has issues with different sets of monsters, then I am not sure, but hopefully that will still help the team narrow down what the issue is.
Because all I’ve done is exactly the same things I’m suggesting to you lot.

Hunh. Well wadaya know. I had originally tested with a handful of random monsters from Mordenkeinen’s Tome, and those all worked just fine. But now that I’ve specifically tried it with the black abishai and autumn eladrin, I’m observing the same problem too. So it doesn’t seem to matter if Mordenkeinen’s Tome was purchased individually, or as part of a bundle. So there goes that theory. And I know I’ve done all of the appropriate troubleshooting stuff, and I know I’m on the right account. So it’s most definitely on DDB’s end. But it’s weird that it’s only selecting some monsters from that book and not all of them. Very, very weird indeed.
@kayak - the bug isn’t that we can’t select it. It’s that when we do select it, it says we can add the monster but have to purchase the content to see it. It does work if you open monster stat page on a separate window but then it won’t work on the combat tracker.
Looks like I am having the same issue and I bought the bundle. The same monsters for me. I know I used some of these monsters a few months ago. Like Bael. Glad to know we're not crazy and this is an issue.
I got MToF as part of the bundle and am having the same problem. Opened a ticket but don't expect much over the holidays (or from dndbeyond generally these days). Since purchased by HASBEEN they've only added new content without any investment in the product itself which will be mothballed next year anyway and be replaced by their Next Big Thing which I'm sure will be cheaper and better ;-) .... can't wait.
I've come to rely too heavily on dndbeyond for a number of years now running more than 10 games a week professionally (well, for money anyway) as my sole income and in the early days it vastly improved the experience. Lately though, not so much and more games are returning to pen & paper so we'll see how this latest hiccup fares.
But wait a minute, what's that over there? D e m i p l a n e .... tbc M C D M ..... tbc P2e..... tbc
I would like to add, perhaps a little cynically considering what HASBEEN has been (nice palilogia there) up to lately, that this is an attempt to steer consumers to purchase the latest content. I don't own MPMotM as I already own physical and digital copies of MToF and VgtM so deem that MPMotM is not great value for money in my circumstance. I wonder if the problem occurring with MToF in the encounter builder is also occurring with MPMotM? (my bet is, that it isn't). So, will I buy MPMotM to fix the problem myself? Maybe yes, in the short-term, because I now rely on dndbeyond and its encounter builder to run my business. But.... in the longer term I have decided to look elsewhere for the support I need to run my business with more confidence and reliability.
I have exactly the same problem and I'm very impressed with your attention to detail in listing all affected monsters. HASBEEN should employ and put you on the dndbeyond team as QA advisor. Oh, I forgot, HASBEEN doesn't recruit these days, only unrecruits! (a vote this for a new word).
Yes. I opened a ticket but only received an automated response. No progress. I'm not particularly surprised. I no longer use the encounter builder, it has less value than paper and books.
I have decided to transition all of my 12 running campaigns (60+ players) and resources away from dndbeyond and hope to be able to unsubscribed just in time to avoid D&D 5.5 (or 6th or even the ridiculous "ONE"). My players are all on board with this decision we made together. In fact a significant proportion of them want to return to paper character sheets and use the physical books we already purchased. I'm impressed, particularly since they are all under 30 years old.
A moderator suggested reporting back on this "known issue". Not sure if that moderator is still employed by Hasbro/WoTC/dndbeyond but I have checked back every day since 6th January and the issue still exists. I'm not hopeful so I've stopped using the encounter builder and have adopted another system. I will now start the transition away from dndbeyond completely.
Dude I get that you’re not happy with the absolutely abysmal support, lack of communication and not being to use content that we paid for in all the ways we paid to use it: I’m annoyed too.
However your walls of salty posting ain’t helping either.
Like support ain’t reading this thread (obviously) so all your “I’m not using dnd beyond anymore” is falling on deaf ears because they ain’t here.
best practice is to just send them another email asking for a response but know every-time you do that, it sadly puts your ticket to the back of the queue (which is not ideal).
I’m with you on the frustration mate, I just don’t think it’s helping you being angry at a company that clearly doesn’t care.
Just chiming in to say that I'm experiencing the exact same issue as described in XXXGammaRay's post. I bought MTOF on its own (not as a bundle) in 2021 and just noticed the bug when I tried to add a Summer Eladrin to an encounter last weekend. I tried several of the monsters from XXXGammaRay's post and I hit the bug with the red ones, while the ones in black work as expected.
I also submitted a support ticket, this is what they said to me: We appreciate you reporting this bug and we have escalated it to the appropriate teams to be investigated further. While we are unable to provide further updates at this time, please keep an eye on our changelog here for updates and fixes to D&D Beyond.
I sincerely hope it gets fixed soon, as I said to support I would like to be able to use the content I have already paid for. If their goal is to transition DnD to being primarily a subscription service, they really need to get on top of bugs like this more quickly.
I've run out of steam banging this particular drum about the Encounter Builder but it's getting worse. Anyone notice the missing maps in Curse of Strahd? (and possibly other source material omissions) and countless missing images in monster stats, character portraits, etc. This is not unique to me, other account holders are experiencing the same problems. We have opened tickets but get the same response as quoted by krigsstev. Changelog only shows updates with new content (yes, give us more money for our new stuff and don't look back at how we maintain the previously purchased content).
I live in hope that dndbeyond will merge seamlessly with the new VTT but seeing their VERY basic Maps tool on dndbeyond, the light at the end of the tunnel seems far, far away.
Fingers crossed for something better from WotC/HASBEEN.
How do you make a formal complaint to customer service on this? I paid for content and im subbed at the master tier... im giving them money for a service they arent providing and its not acceptable and the team don't even communicate. Absolutely unacceptable!
Now none of them work for me. Before, the ones in black did but now they show the same as the red did. So it seems it's getting worse instead of better. ~sigh~

oh crap so it’s affecting you too, sposta? Damn.
So it’s not a bundle bug, it’s an everyone bug.

So i think this might explain it better:
https://imgur.com/a/TaSuVqH
The top image is what the toome of foes, autumn eladrin sheet looks like on the combat tracker.
The bottom image is what the monsters of the multiverse autumn eladrin sheet looks like on combat tracker.
They both should be viewable in the way the bottom one is, but the top one isnt for some reason
aye volo is fine. i tested all the monsters and theyre all working properly.
