Something that should be implemented quickly is some way to curate the published homebrew content. Some way for people to review balance would be ideal or else we're going to and up in a position where people are submitting everything and there's no way to identify the balanced from the unbalanced.
If there is one thing I'd think useful, it would be to allow exporting spells, magic items, and monsters for print.
Ideally, in some format that resembles stat blocks from MM for monsters, and equipment and spell cards from Gale Force Nine. That way, I can just hand over the card to my player when she identifies the item.
Love what I'm seeing so far! It's kind of annoying to get back to looking at a homebrew thing (any kind) after making it; I feel like there should be an easy button to look at the thing you've just created and saved more than clicking My Content > Homebrew Creations.
My only real suggestion here is simple to say and I'm sure a headache to implement but... Sort by date published feature for homebrew content? Or at least a little area to not only see featured or well voted on items, but new stuff. I always found that to be a good way to notice trends.
Honestly, I'm disappointed that there's no option for homebrew backgrounds, especially given that customizing backgrounds is explicitly an option in both the Basic Rules and the Player's Handbook.
Game mechanics (doesn't really need to be integrated anywhere, just a spot to specify changes to actual mechanics rather than character options)
Homebrew bundles, allowing a creator to bundle multiple homebrew items into a single "package" that is published. Other people subscribe to this package and get everything that it contains. Useful for sharing anything that isn't trivial, such as conversions or campaign settings.
I was excited for phase 3 thinking that I'd be able to make use of the D&D Beyond campaign tools and homebrew to manage my conversion of d20 Modern over to 5th edition. However, the platform is not nearly powerful enough to support the kinds of extensive changes that makes (removing money tracking in favor of Wealth score, a brand-new reputation score, new feats, completely different classes, etc.).
To make sure we don't waste anyone's time, here are a few things that are not currently included that will be later in the beta or for launch:
Using homebrew content in the builder or sheet. As noted above, this will not be available until launch.
Creating backgrounds, feats, races, or subclasses. We want to start testing with a smaller subset of content types. We'll add more opportunities for custom content as we move forward.
Right, I knew that they were upcoming, but given that customizing backgrounds is a default option and technically not even homebrew, I feel it should've been one of the first content types. I'm disappointed and I wanted to make that known.

Understood, thank you.

I'm like Indiana Jones meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, only browner.
I would love to see the Unearthed Arcana added into homebrew options. I'm willing to take the time to generate it in the tool myself, but it'd sure be convenient if I didn't have to!
I'm having trouble removing some homebrew I created as a test. They seemed to delete fine on the creations page, but they're still appearing in my collections page. When I select "remove from collection" it just gives me a 403 error message. I'm also seeing a restore button at the top of each deleted item, so perhaps this is intentional? If so, I'd like the option to permanently delete items.
Could we implement the [spoiler] tag or something equivalent to indicate that some info is reserved for DMs for magic item descriptions. Might be good for cursed items.
On the note of curation, there certainly needs to be a way to find quality content. Rating content, and then filtering by views or stars would be an excellent addition.
Is there a way to edit the stats of a monster once it's been created?
I made a homebrew creature, but when I edit it, all I see available is "Basic Information", including languages and senses. I don't see a way to edit its Actions or hit points, etc.
Could there be a space for non-magical homebrew items, like exotic weapon, new tools, new vehicle, etc.?
Signal Boost. Yes, please. I'd like for my monk to be able to use a spiked chain. also, I can create items that effectively impliment some of my houserules that way, like longbows losing the Heavy trait, and add in a "Light Glaive" that is d8, Reach, and not Heavy. (still tinkering, because I'd also like a d6 two handed reach weapon with finesse, as well. Fits as 1 die step higher than whip, and requires two hands. could even be versatile, and only have reach when used two handed, but that's more complicated that 5e wants to be.)

A voting system would definitely be nice. I do worry that stuff people don't like for "dumb" reasons (like, "this thing doesn't fit my view of the point of dnd" or whatever) will get downvoted to oblivion if there is an option to downvote, though. I like only being able to upvote. Or tag something as a comment, so you can see when browsing that 20 people tagged an item "overpowered", or "underpowered", or "too complicated", etc.

This. I really like item and spell cards. Also, I'd like to be able to print out an encounter sheet, with options for abbreviated stat blocks for the monsters that fit smaller on the page.

This needs to exist both in the homebrew creation system, and as part of making a character. Because it is explicitly allowed for the player to make their own background. The only part that is subject to DM review is making a new feature.

This. Needs to happen at some point. I use a LOT of UA material in my games. Like....a ton.
My own feedback:
If I take an existing magic armor, and make a new one with it as a template, I can't make it stop saying "disadvantage stealth" in the notes. I can add notes, but I can't delete existing notes?
When making a monster, I'd like to be able to add templates, like race/creature type. For instance, I want to be able to take the Knight, and make it a dwarf, and have it autofill all the dwarf stuff, or make it a vampire, and it adds vampire traits, etc.
buttons or whatever to add in attacks for monsters like you do for characters.

Identifying balanced with unbalanced will be up to all of you. ;)
The vote function and comment function when browsing homebrew will help to weed out the unruly.

I see a way to vote thing up but not down, am I missing it?

Where's the aasimar for player races? It's in the DMG and (I believe) the UA. Can we have the ability to create homebrew player races?
Super excited to mess around with the whole unlocked thing now!!! Awesome!

I'm sure this is a known issue, but it seems that "Hit Dice" in the monster homebrew interface are referred to as "Hit Points Dice".
