This one is hard for me. I've put warlock in the poll.
Thematically it's sorcerer by far. However mechanically I find the class as fun as having teeth pulled to play. It's just a bad wizard with metamagic as its only redeeming feature. A feature which I don't enjoy, and think should have remained as a feat for all casters instead of a sorcerer thing.
Mechanically it's probably warlock. It has some of the same themes as sorcerer, and with a generous DM you could probably reflavor as one. Its subclasses are thematic and have some really interesting and major effects. And then on top of that it has essentially a second subclass via the pacts and invocations, meaning that you have a crazy amount of freedom over how you build.
Favourite class of all time is the Duskblade/Magus/Swordmage of other editions, due to the seamless fusion of casting through your strikes. However that isn't in this edition sadley.
I went with druid but it's a close race between druid and sorcerer. Both are amazing and very thematic classes in different ways but the druid packs more of a mechanical punch and doesn't feel like a watered-down wizard with a cool theme. Druid also has some absolutely amazing subclasses for support and the circle of the shepherd is the best summoner in the game while having good support options. Sorcerer also has the issue that because wizards can get metamagic now the class has lost its only advantage over the wizard.

I picked rogue but ranger was a close second. I like smart, agile fighters with good skills and bonus points for ties to nature. Rogue edges out the win because I'm not crazy about Ranger's magical side and I rarely feel I'm getting my money's worth out of it, as it were.
Ranger. Cause it’s a great combination of martial and magical (though a lot of the ranger spells feel more like "I have a heightened attunement to nature" then "magic"), I love the flavour and idea of the class and it’s practically taken straight from LOTR and I’m a big LOTR fan (just look at my username)
My favorites are Bard, Artificer, Necromancer (usually as a wizard subclass), and Rogue. Warlock is good too, along with the occasional Paladin or Cleric. I rarely play any other classes.
I really like ranger but I just think mechanically it doesn’t hold up. I’ll take it to third level just to get subclass and spellcasting / hunters mark but I don’t love it from there onwards

What's your favorite class and why?
Oh i just found out there's another forum for this same question but it doesn't have the Artificer in it.
Yeah this is really hard to choose cause i like to multiclass, but Barbarian 100% of the way

While I love warlock a ton, nothing can stop me from my on true love: le' Bard
Ranger for me, great skills, fun spells and still good in combat, they get the nature flavor I like without it being to over the top like Druids.
I just think warlocks are neat. they have a lot of customizability
