Taking a wild guess. But this actually gives me hope that the class feature variants are include in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, with the subheading of Class Feature Options. Could Beyond maybe have just let out a bit of a spoiler!?
What are the special rules and exceptions with the character sheet update?
He mentioned things like the Life Cleric's extra healing that haven't been implemented but are helpful to have in the system - "snowflake rules" that are specific to one subclass, etc.
It... sounds like Adam was using the 'I'm a special snowflake' derogatory phrase to refer to subclass abilities like the LIfe Cleric's Disciple of Life feature. Which is not the kind of phrasing I'd like to hear used in official communications, so I'd love it if someone would clarify if that's not the case.

I believe that was exactly what he was referring to the Life Cleric ability and other such features specific to only 1 subclass out of a class that isn't already implemented onto the character sheet, I also don't consider the term derogatory towards a character as most PC's are special in some way if he has directed it towards someone ie. a player that would be rude and derogatory and I didn't get the idea he mean't it towards any players.

sounds more like putting words in someones mouth. Adam did not say "I'm a special snowflake" he said " we call them snowflake rules, things that are may unprecedented in the rest of the game,.... they are very specific to certain subclasses, or specific rules exceptions, or maybe special mechanics subclasses have."
Snowflake has been a way of describing something that is unique or individual way before this hullabaloo that it now has been.
will you guys make your own site to play? right now my group is using roll 20 and were unable to use our character sheets, plus it would probably be easier to use the same site
No word on a DDB VTT any time soon (though as I understand things it’s on the roadmap at some point), but meantime your solution is to use the Beyond20 browser extension.
The Beyond20 Chrome extension (also available for Firefox as I recall) works beautifully to link DDB character sheets into Roll20 - click on the skills, attacks, etc and they just get translated across and implemented by the Roll20 APIs. Been using it for months with our group and it’s seamless. Yes, you have to have two tabs open but you’d be popping up your character sheet on Roll20 every time in any case.
Tbh I find an extra Discord window being open far more annoying to have to handle than the extra tab :)

I've heard the terminology in product development w/rt to one-off developments/modules that have to be maintained but also are not easily genericized well before it became a political wedge. Not to say that should prevent the adoption of other terminology, but it was meant to identify something that was so customized/coded as to be unique.

Hey, you should check out the Beyond20 chrome/firefox extension. It lets you click on attacks, spells, skills, etc... in your DNDBeyond sheet and sends a roll directly to the Roll20 chat. It is super helpful, has support for a ton of rules like rage, sneak attack, etc... And even lets the DM roll directly from DDB stat blocks. Also, it lets PCs change their HP on the DDB sheet and it auto updates their token HP on Roll20. And if you click to roll initiative on DDB, it will add you to the Roll20 initiative turn tracker as long as your token is selected.
Other features: There is a Display on VTT button that lets you show a spell card or magic item card in the roll20 chat, also monster art. It's really amazing.

Does this mean that Class Feature Variants UA has been shelved until the official release with the book?
Yes, I'm also worried about this, will the UA class feature variants come?

The CFV have already been confirmed to be coming out with Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
Guess I missed that one. Not such a wild guess then! Oops
Probably.
Probably not as they will be part of Tasha’s by then and need to be purchased from that book.

Partway through the quest for absolute truth.
Snowflake rules? Like what?
Yeah, I'm unfamiliar with the phrase as well.
