The night dawned and settled around like a cool blanket. For hours everyone slept comfortably, exhausted from the days events or from long places of travel. Vior, the tavern cook, and his wife Rheim, the tavern owner, settled in their own beds, slumbering away. Behind the bar Zenyth passed out, a bottle of some alcohol in hand as he drunk himself into a stupor, and Ember Dewsong flitted off to study her tomes, disinterested in sleep. Sleep was for the weak. Upon the third floor rested Quill, Aquariel, Brash, Ulrich Tilda, and Vladofshky, settled into beds that were surprisingly comfortable for their cheap cost. The night ticked over to midnight, then one, and the world grew still and quiet. Eerily still and quiet. The silence seemed to disturb even sleep, and then a suffle--soft, quiet, footsteps on wood. A creak here, a shift there--the sound of a blade carefully being pulled from a leather sheath. Poison gently hissed from a vial. All within the Immoral Wench, before they could scream, a dagger stabs into patrons. The nightly attackers shift from room to room, head up the stairs--and the floor boards groan. In the silence it is loud, awakening.
They stand over beds, daggers raised, ready to plunge down into unsuspecting necks.

"What the-"
Confused and in a panic, Vladofhsky puts his hand inside the satchel by his bed and takes out a via of alchemical acid which he throws towards his assailant. As it breaks, it deals 5 acid damage if not evaded (A DC of 13. Vladofshky himself rolls a 16 as he tries to cover himself with the bed sheets).
Waking to the sound of someone in her room, Aquariel sees a menacing figure standing over her bed. She reaches under her pillow for the daggers she placed there before settling for the night, and threw one at her would-be attacker. It struck true. Rolling out of bed, she brandished the other dagger, hoping for a second hit. But her balance was off getting out of bed, and she missed.
"The relevant equation is: Knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass; a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read." - Terry Pratchett
Groggily Tilda throws out her arm in the direction of her attacker saying, "F*ing hell" as her hand connects with what she thinks is a chest?... "Can't a girl get some sleep already?!"
The swearing has long been her way of invoking the proper feeling behind inflicting wounds on another person
She only hears screaming as she grabs her gear and quickly flees the room to find a safe place to think.
A disturbance in the night wakes Ulrich, immediately sending him into a brief state of panic as he spots an unknown individual standing in his room. Grabbing the crystal arcane focus he keeps close for spellcasting, he hurriedly scrambles out of the bed while conjuring a layer of frost to assault the intruder. In an effort to use the spell's attack as a chance to escape to a more favorable position, running for the room's doorway and out into the hall.
The flurry of action immediately began with a loud curse from the assassin in Brash's room, followed by a second curse from Aquariel's. As Tilda fled her own room the assassin lashed out with the dagger in hand. It struck Tilda in the side, and with a snarl he chased after her with a second attack, this time a stab between into her shoulder. Just down the hall in Vladofshky's room the assassin screamed and cursed as acid hit home. He lashed out blindly at the little gnome and missed terribly at his attack. Next door the assassin pulled Aquariel's dagger from his shoulder and flung it right back. It landed into her own shoulder like some strange form of catch. Further next door Brash twisted to avoid a hit, the dagger grazed past but never touched him.
As Ulrich fled his room after his attack the assassin sliced with a snarl and hit flesh on the arm. He flinched from the frost, but it barely crossed his skin before the magic faded. Quickly the assassin raced after the sorcerer and into the doorway. His second attack ended up with the dagger embedded into the wall of the hallway.
"Vipl!" the assassin cursed. A tail snapped out from under his cloak, a dark, bloody red of a Tiefling.
The assassin in Quilla's room was not pleased at all that the gnome girl got under her grasp. She snarled out a curse, "Qyz kitc myry haf duzzdy wmuz!" and chased after Quilla. She tossed her dagger, a dusty purple Tiefling tail snapped out as she did so, and it buried itself into the hit between Quilla's ribs.

Still confused as to what is happening, Vladofshky picks up his satchel as he moves a bit towards the door while still facing his attacker, and throws another vial of alchemical acid at him/her. (Move to B2, If the attacker fails a dex save against a DC of 13 he takes 4 acid damage)
As she is fleeing she feels a sharp pain in her left side, gasping she tries to scurry faster but she wasn't quite fast enough because she feels the piercing pain of her right shoulder blade.
"Damn it...he...Help?" Eyes blurring she wavers and falls against the wall in front of her as she blacks out.
Taking her cue from her assailant, Aquariel pulled the dagger out of the wound and came at the cloaked figure with daggers in both hands. Both weapons cut into her attacker.
As he lifts his mighty axe and swings, he exclaims “You Disturbed My Beauty Sleep!” As his axe finds its mark and lands square and true. At that moment he hears struggles in the other rooms and rushes out to the hallway to look around (H3) and get away from his attacker.
Outside of the doorway, Ulrich staggers for a moment at the sudden pain of the attacker's blade connecting with his arm, clutching at the wound. Unable to maintain any form of offense in these quarters that will end well for himself, Ulrich ducks out of the assassin's reach and runs further into the hall, brushing past the nearest door and the axe-wielding man stepping out of it, taking a moment to even acknowledge this other person in his desperation to get away.
Ulrich takes a disengage action to safely move away from the assassin, moving down the hall and past where Brash would be, ending the movement in G3.
The attackers move quickly, those injured infuriated by the damage already done, and ready to deal out more of their own. Tilda's attacker flung his dagger at Ulrich, and smiled satisfied when it hit home in the sorcerer's side. Brash's attacker followed after his daring move to leave the room and a failed stab at the other man as he moved. His second attack, a slash toward a small portion of unprotected skin, hits home. For a second poison crawled through Brash's veins, but his superior constitution negated the effects almost instantly. A lock of dark hair slipped out from underneath the assassin's hood followed by a faint curse.
"What are you," she hissed in common, and almost backed up several feet but contained herself.
Ulrich's original assassin followed him out into the hall and with a growl pulled his own dagger free. The moment he saw Ulrich fall, he let out a crowing, quiet laugh.
In Vladofshky's room the assassin ignored the noise down in the hall and with a snarl slashed down at the little gnome. His dagger cut into Vladofshky's shoulder, and with a sudder the poison that coated the blade slipped into Vladofshky's veins. It burned as it sloughed through the little gnome's blood. Just next door Aquariel's own assassin lashes out with the dagger and scored another hit into unprotected skin.
"Foolish, foolish, little gnome," the assassin taunted softly.
Before anything else could be done there is a flash in the dark. Two daggers fly out at quick speed down the hall and land true into Tilda's assassin's face and throat. He had a moment to gurgle out in surprise, followed by a shocked shout from the assassin at the other end of the hall, before he fell to the ground completely dead. A black cloaked finger hovered over Tilda for a brief second, long enough to uncork a bottle and practically shove it into Tilda's mouth--a potion that shimmered faintly and rushed through her veins, rushed through her wounds with its magical properties.
"Get up," the stranger hissed, and then vanished from sight.
Aquariel gritted her teeth as another hit landed on her. Her hair lashed about her face as if an angry wind was blowing through it. One more she lashed out with daggers in both hands, and both hit home.
The breath leaves Ulrich's lungs as the thrown dagger plunges into his side. For a brief moment, his vision clouds and he feels himself stumble. "Not... Not yet..." he wheezes, righting himself and raising one shaky hand towards the assassin who threw the dagger - before seeing the man fall to the floor. As his vision begins to clear for the moment, Ulrich takes little time to question this fortune, remembering the other attackers about and swings around to face the assassin in the doorway. Muttering a spell incantation as he recollects what composure he can hold onto, he fires a ray of green energy at the assailant fighting the axe-wielding man.

Not one to back down, Vladofshky keeps on throwing alchemical acid at his attacker. "I may not know what is going on, but I'm not going down without a fight!"
He throws a flask of alchemical acid at Assasin B for 1 acid damage if he/she fails a DC 13 dexterity saving throw
With a sudden burning in his veins from poison, his adrenaline thwarts the poisons affects and the beast of a man swings his great axe. Just as he finishes his swing, he sees a flash of green energy fly past him hitting the his assailant. Brash turns to see where it came from and sees a man at the verge of death. Brash quickly moves to the man. “Stay behind me my friend, I will cover you” he tells the man as he repairs for another attack.

"Get Up!" The whisper in my ear feels harsh, and rushed... Urgent. Remembering the horror of moments ago my eyes pop open and as I glance around notice I'm leaning in a secluded corner of the hallway. But all my wounds I incurred seem to be gone, that must have been some potion that guy gave me. Hearing the sounds of struggles just beyond the dead body of my assailant I slowly make my way along the wall in that direction. As I get to the end I glance quickly at the body and note yes it is indeed... dead. I see a room in front and to my right both with scuffles going on. But the sound that catches my attention is to my left. I see a very wounded half-elf and instinct kicks in. I reach him in a few steps, "Hush now, all will be well." As gently as I can touching his wounds to best heal him. "If you're feeling better, we should see about helping the others. I hear at least two more nearby in possible need of assistance." I gesture at the door below us to suggest we start there.
Ulrich heals 8 from roll in discord.
for clarification I ended up in F3, and am suggesting we proceed to D2 as a group.
The assassin ducked under Vladofshky's vial of acid with a curse and tried to swing at the little gnome, but the attack went wide as the assassin lost his balance briefly and stumbled to the side. Next door in Aquariel's room with one more slice of the dagger that nicked an important vein in the underside of Aquariel's arm, and the young Genasi went down. The assassin grinned, lips curled around teeth, and started for the door out of the room. He stumbled over the body of his fallen partner and tumbled sideways. The hood of his cloak fell away, revealing slightly pointed, delicate ears of a half-elf.
"Shit****!" he snarled, and then stared at the feet of a tiny halfling with wide eyes just in time to see a splatter of blood as another partner fell to the ground in a doorway at the barbarian's feet, dead. "Shiiiiit."
At the end of the hall the assassin flung his dagger away at Ulrich, but with Brash in the way the dagger clattered harmlesly against his weapon and fell to the ground. A second later two daggers flew out from the darkness as a black blur landed just past Brash. They sunk into the assassin's arm, but the tiefling still stood.
"Well, damn," the stranger muttered, and then vanished back into the darkness with a swirl of his cloak.
And so it begins...
