With Gar finally within reach Bubbles wastes no time, shouting "Prepare to meet your god!" as he rushes to engage (at AI30) swinging with reckless abandon at their main target
(Rage still active, reckless attack, Divine Fury on first hit, not using GWM strikes)
Last RitesAttack: 31 Damage: 20. (OOC: If this doesn't hit can I use the Inspiration die to reroll - suspect not?)
Inspiration reroll for Attack 1: Feeling more unbalanced than expected with the initial strike, Bubbles realises this early in his swing and takes an instant to brace his core, pulling the swing back into line with Gar's torso

Bubbles can hardly hide his excitement in finally being able to meet Gar in combat, and his attacks show it. The barbarian corrects for a small flaw in his attack and manages to pierce Gar's inattentive defense twice. Last Rites digs deep into Gar's flesh, adding major wounds to the foe. Although his fanatic eyes do not show it, Gar's body in visibly in immense pain. (Gar Shatterkeel takes 35 magical piercing and radiant damage.)
Despite his excitement, Bubbles' body cannot take this heightened level of adrenaline, at least not without a little break.
Separated from combat by a large mound of coral and its grasping arms, Whale-Gulp thrashes about inefficiently. Although no one can see the sperm whale at the moment, they all hear his sonorous call. It sounds like it is asking for help.
-> Stomach acid damage: 2
Inside the whale's stomach, an undead sailor continues to be digested. (Undead Sailor#20 takes 2 acid damage.)
Undertow is more successful in his attempt to free himself of the trapping coral. Once free, he purposefully ignores Amble's request and approaches Gar with the intent to kill.
In his blind pursuit of Sandlot, Gar made the mistake of entering the range of the lit coin that Shanty had previously tossed. This has made Gar an easy target and, even though the bard could already spot his enemy, all of his companions can now reap the benefits of Shanty's earlier strategic decision.
Nonetheless, only one of the two bursts of pure arcane energy surging from Shanty's hands manage to hit the enemy. Gar now looks to be quite weakened. (Gar Shatterkeel takes 8 force damage.)
Stationary for some time now, the warlock's Tentacle of the Deeps and inches closer to the fight.
Wave sinks into what seems to be the cleric's flesh, but it turns out Barnacle has suddenly appeared to take the blow instead. and finally forces him into unconsciousness. (Barring any reactions, Sandlot and is unconscious, incapacitated, and prone. (Barnacle takes 12 magical piercing damage, reference.)
(Sandlot, Barnacle, and Amble are up next. Sandlot needs to roll a DEATH saving throw.)
(To keep things rolling for now, just in case no interference is made.)
His faith unwavering, and with bond yet intact, Sandlot faced Gar without an ounce of fear: Be it of death or Pain. Rather, during the brief exchange in which he is again forced to push his old body to its limits just to narrowly escape capture and death, it is with pity that he regarded Gar; A lost soul almost quite literally blinded by /Her/ corrupting influence. Whether he is again ripped from the waking world as physical pain and blood loss overwhelm him....
Sandlot Death Save(DC 10): 18.
(If Nat20, taking the below actions, getting up from prone and moving as close to AJ-26 is possible.)
OR(if Interference Made)
... Or if thanks to the sacrifices of his allies, he lingered yet on the razor thin edge of life and death, Sandlot felt a compulsion tugging at his subconscious. And yet, if allotted a chance to fight for a little longer, and protect his fellows by acting as bait then.... he didn't dare listen to it. Not yet. Nor could he in good conscious.... Nor should he....
Sandlot would firm up his jaw for a moment. And in that moment's respite upon slipping away by the grace of his goddess, the clarity found has him calling out, "Hope, there is yet... Incapacitate him, if you can."
(OOC Apologies for this one as it's going to be a long one!)
Reaction: Operation Save Sandlot!
Once again watching as Gar bears down on Sandlot intent on snuffing out his candle once again. As before, Barnacle closes his eyes, envisioning himself no longer bound in the clutches of the coral and instead bearing down on Gar himself, taking the hit from the man-crab in order to protect the other locathah.
(OOC - Here's hoping protective bond does the business! If it does, Barnacle's turn is played out below:)
Action: Operation Perforate Gar!
Opening his eyes to find himself on the wrong end of Gar's own trident, Barnacle's grimace turns into a grin despite the pain as he realises he is now face to face with his foe.
"My turn now. Feel my Fork!"
Attack 1: 28 Damage: 10
Attack 2: 27 Damage: 9
(Should either attack hit, Barnacle will spend his penultimate superiority die to make it a tripping attack, adding 7 to the damage and forcing Gar to succeed on a DC16 strength save or be knocked prone. If he needs advantage on the second attack because Gar is knocked prone by the first....18.)
(OOC If protective bond doesn't work and Sandlot stays down - here's an alternative turn)
Action: Operation Get Relevant!
Watching Sandlot fall, Barnacle reminds himself that a true warrior with honour would look to lock horns with the best of his challengers, not look to dominate and bully someone not his marital equal. Readying his own strength, he turns it against the grasping tendrils of coral.
Strength Save: 22
Should he free himself, Barnacle will beeline towards Gar, getting as close as he can and readies Fork for the next round.
(@Ori: & @MB: Thanks for the multi-layered turns to account for uncertainty. I appreciate the detail and effort that went into these posts.)
Barnacle is the first one to spot and, in turn, chase Gar. He invites the strange humanoid to enjoy being in the wrong end of a trident himself. The fighter's first blow is delivered in a sweeping motion, as to force Gar into an uncomfortable position. Although it looks like Barnacle is about to succeed, Gar's legs do not budge (Legendary Resistance used.)
Fork's prongs are still sharp, however; and more of Gar's blood is spilled. Gar's eye are as intense as ever, but his body looks like it is about to shut down. (Gar takes 26 magical piercing damage.)
LEGENDARY ACTION
Gar ignores all of his wounds and attacks Sandlot with his claw:
Will Gar finally manage to put Sandlot down? (Barring any reactions, Sandlot takes 10 magical piercing damage and is unconscious, incapacitated, prone and grappled.)
Amble has his own way to protect a life, and Sandlot's is as worthy as any other creature's out there. If anything, Sandlot's even a bit more deserving of saving than others', as the cleric is also a follower of Eldatth and seemed to agree with Amble when it came to keeping Gar Shatterkeel alive. Amble knows what to do:
-> Balm of the Summer Court roll: 13
A familiar warmth is restored to Sandlot's chest. (Sandlot recover 13 HP+ 3 temp HP and is no longer unconscious or incapacitated. He remains prone and grappled.)
Still lacking his shield, Sandlot can do little to avoid this attack. Thankfully, the blow is not damaging enough to claim the cleric's consciousness again. (Sandlot takes 12 magical piercing damage.)
11. Barnacle (60/104; red) - Darkvision,Emboldened Bond (d4);
11. Shaolar Quanderil (gray)
10. Amble (90/90; lime) - Emboldened Bond (d4);
09. Undead Sailor (x3) - two others are turned/roaming and effectively out of combat for now;
MAP:
NOTES: I assume that the Driftglobe is shedding Light from where Gulp is, although it is currently out of play. Same applies to Bubbles' Candle of the Deep, which is in play. The light blue musical note token represents Shanty's Tentacle of the Deeps. Shanty's coin at {AF-33} is another source of Light.
Gar does not say anything this time. In fact, it almost looks like Wave is acting on its own when it invites five more corpses to join the fight. These sailors rise and surround Gar protectively.
-> Five more Undead Sailors join the fight. They are located in the five unoccupied spaces immediately next to Gar: {AK-25}, {AI-26}, {AI-27}, {AJ-27}, and {AK-27}.
(Bubbles, Whale-Gulp, Shanty, and Undertow are up next. Gulp is restrained but can use his action to perform an athletics or acrobatics check {DC 18} to escape. Also, a kind reminder that Bubbles' Rage has expired.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(@Lerus: Probably won't matter in the grand scheme of things, but BoS comes with some temp HP(1 per die spent), so Sandy would be at 4 atm).
Undertow's Turn:
Though still very much caught up in almost zealous fury, the gods blessed Undertow with two eyes for a reason, and he'd be a fool not to use'm right proper! So, assuming the others hadn't already caught on to the strangeness with Gar and the Trident, Undertow would call out, "The Trident! Seperate him from it!", trusting his instincts. Even if they had and failed, he would take it upon himself to swim over the heads of the Sailors, aiming to snatch the weapon from Gar's grip after sheathing Shoreseeker!
Not to save the madman, as death was well and deserved as far as Undertow was mostly concerned in the heat of the moment. But disrupt and ultimately brandish the weapon against the would be Sea Conqueror. "This Madness ends now!" He'd shout, if successful. But in failure, he visibly grit his teeth bark out obscenities at Gar in a vain hope to draw his ire away.
On another hand, if not felled by the others or the trident /is/ taken, then it is without hesitance that Undertow yet drew close to either Gar or Foe, ready to put down either or in a flurry of attacks by Shoreseeker.
Movement(if allowed): To AJ-26(just above Undead Sailor) (If unable to reach location due to limited verticallity in the area, assume he moves up to Zombie(AK-27) and directs any below attacks to it.)
Action: Attempt to Steal away Wave, initiating grapple contest - Athletics: 17 vs Gar's Strength Athletics or Acrobatics(?). (If Undertow still has inspiration, which I believe he did, spending it to make the roll at advantage: 25.)
OR(if already successful stolen by another).
Action: Shoreseeker Fury on Gar(if able to move as dictated above). Strike #1 - Attack: 11 Damage: 8 magical piercing. Strike #2 - Attack: 27 Damage: 9 magical piercing.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
More than happy with Gar's attention being focussed elsewhere, Bubbles battle rage exhausts itself and despite now being surrounded, and with a real chance of succumbing to the undead mob, he hefts Last Rites once more and swings hard at Gar, looking for an opening as Undertow attempts to disarm him, and hoping that the others might be able to deal with the undead.

(OOC: I think it makes more sense narratively to resolve these turns in a slightly different order, so here we go.)
Undertow urges his companions to separate Gar from Wave but ends up taking the task on himself. The ranger swims at an angle, putting himself in harm's way concerning the revived sailors, and reaches for the enemy's trident while being unarmed himself.
For the second time in this fight, Wave is snatched away from Gar's humanoid hand. He lets out a vicious scream of anger and turns his attention to Undertow, albeit only momentarily.
Despite feeling his movements slow down a tad, Bubbles moves closer to the brawl with the help of his Candle of the Deep {AH-26}. Putting Last Rites'reach to good use, the barbarian bypasses a couple of sailors to strike directly at Gar.
The magical weapon gains a light of its own, sending a searing beam into Gar's heart as it pierces his chest. The force of the attack, both magical and physical, sends Gar toward the sandy floor, which is still housing several dead bodies. His own body collapses into a pool of inky water that rapidly disperses. All of his belongings, including the metal crab claw, disappear into a foam before it too disperses. The one exception is Wave, which sticks defiantly in the sand in an almost vertical manner, its prongs pointing to the ceiling on the coral mountain. (Gar Shatterkeel takes 30 magical piercing and radiant damage and is DEFEATED.)
The undead sailors continue to respond to the evil trident.
Gulp made another attempt to free himself and return to the group even if empty-handed (emptyfinned?)
Str Check: 15
The corals kept him in place and he sent a call for help (or the signal "push the monster here, in that direction").
