I'm an old fart at 41 summers old. I am searching for a new hobby, and find D&D very interresting. Used to play and collect 40k, then met my wife, had a lovely daughter, you know life happend.
Lately I feel restless, and need something new to nerd (using nerd as a posative)about, meet new friends and so on. But am I to old to embark on new adventures?
Lol, too old. I am 51 and started back into D&D around 45 or so. I play with my kids (25 and 27) and their friends, so I am by FAR the oldest fart in the group. It's all about common interest and having fun, so your actual age isn't too relevant. Jump in and enjoy! Also, be ready to experience confusion here and there as the "kids" use a newer term you may not recognize lol.

Ty All. You know, I should roll that D20 and embark on great adventuers. Who knows what lies beyond the forrest, behind the moutains, through the boog?
What great friends will I meet? What Foes stand in my way? Who knows?

Nope, not too old. I have almost 2 decades on ya, and am again enjoying the game after a 20+ year break.
To me, it seems that live table gaming is falling by the wayside, and video-game influenced online play is now the popular gaming medium. That's unfortunate for folks like me, who prefer live face time with my fellow players, but provides lots of play options for those who prefer screen time play.
My first experience with D&D was my join date here. While not exactly as old as you, I was pretty close. If you want to try, please try. This game has been life changing for me; I met people I would not have and forged friendships that have lasted years. I would recommend you try the game free using the information in my signature before sinking money into it. Coming from 40k, you might be used to spending truckloads of money on hobbies (😛) but this game is throughly enjoyable without spending a dime.

The question I would ask is: Do you still dream? Do you still have the ability to imagine heroes and villains and the stories that have them?
Because If you do then you are absolutely young enough to play this game :)
You're never too old, whether you're 13, 21, 43, 97, or 283 years old, it is never too late to try something new, especially something like Dungeons and Dragons, we'd love to have a new player, especially one with a different outlook on life.

I am 50, regularly the oldest at the table and a players age has yet to be an issue in a game I have played. I play in groups where we have players as young as 8 or 10 to players in their 60's, we always have fun!
I did start playing at around 10, but did have long gaps in play due to life. For me the 2 biggest game issues have been scheduling conflicts by a wide margin, followed by a place to host a regular game.
Jump in and have some fun!!

I'm 60 and the DM, one of my players who just started playing D&D with this campaign is 55 and she has no problems having started the game at this age.
Given that there is "The DnD Grandma" who began playing D&D when over 70 years old and even has a YouTube channel, I think you're fine.
D&D has no upper-age limit.

I have two groups, one of 5 and one of 6 people, both with an age average of around 38. The group of 6 has 3 players completely new to the Pen&Paper genre.
That made me laugh out loud. You are never too old to try gaming. You will be pleased to know that for D&D you don't need nearly as many minis as 40k =)

Hi there.
Just a quick question.
Hi there peace be with you
No you're not too old.
You may have issues socializing with teenagers, but it's not really hard to find a party of adults and play with them.
I met people as old as ~65 years old in DnD and they apparently had no issues playing.
Bilbo was 50 years old when he embarked to his journey.

I am 55 and have been playing for 4 decades.
This game has several benefits for the elderly, keeps the brain active at the very least. I fully expect to be playing even if I am in a nursing home.
Never.

Find a group you can jibe with, and have fun.
I didn't start playing till I was about 42. You're good.

Nope. Not old at all. I'm 49 and running a campaign with 5 players all in the range of 23-25 and we're having a very fun time.
DND and table top RPG games don't care about age. It's a fantasy world. It's all about the game and the fun we all have together.
I'm personally blessed to have such a crazy age range in my games and all get along.
You'll be fine.
I'm 60 and the DM, one of my players who just started playing D&D with this campaign is 55 and she has no problems having started the game at this age.
I restarted playing again in my 40's. No regrets. Great decision and I love the hobby. Good luck in you quests.
Just to make sure that you understand... No. You're not too old. I'm 58, our group has people from 33 to 63...so eh..age doesn't matter here.
My dad, who is almost 50, recently started playing and I now can't drag him away from the screen.
