I came up with the idea to make a battlesmith that uses there infused tools (with the + 1 arcane focus infusion) as improvised weapons that they got to use intelligence for. Ofc this character would take the tavern brawler feat, but I feel like it would be cool to see any battlesmith just smacking someone with their bag of holding and it being semi viable for damage. But battle ready says ‘weapons’ and that poses the question, for battle ready does improvised weapons count as weapons, since they go from tool to weapon the second a player goes “I’m smacking that guy with this screw driver”.
So, here's the weird way I would rule this... a magic object used as an improvised weapon is a magic weapon, and qualifies for the artificer's Battle Ready feature. However, because it is not a weapon and the magic itself isn't used in the actual attack, the damage dealt is not magical and does not qualify as dealing damage with a magical weapon for the purpose of overcoming resistance to non-magical damage that some creatures have.
