I seen some one mention this in the form once, but I cant seem to find it now so I guess I have to re-ask the question. Sorry
I know that there are Magic Items that can replace the limb (Prosthetic Limb, Arcane Propulsion Arm, and the Armorer armor) however these all need attunement (or a subclass) and there are some many more magic items/infusions that are greater than replacing a lost limb.
As I see it, yes it could act as a clumsy weaker replacement, but doable. Strength for carrying and lifting would have to be recalculated (characters strength /2 + HS for example) and precision acts (lock picking with that limb would be an issue).
Benefit's would be that could act on its own (why does your arm want pet the Tabaxi?) and a built in finger blaster (?). Detached and re attached with just a command word.
What are your thoughts on this? would it work? have you done it yourself in game?
It seems to me that if there's any magic item that should need attunement to work correctly, it would be a prosthetic limb. Do you really want to have to command your arm with a bonus action?
I'm not sure what the advantage of having the Homunculus Servant be arm shaped would be, versus just having it be its own thing. Do you need to pass as "ordinary" for some reason? Why not just be a one-armed adventurer with a Homunculus Servant assistive technology sidekick?
Quick correction: The Prosthetic Limb does not require attunement. It simply needs to be attached to function like a normal limb.
Beyond that I wouldn't fundamentally have any issue with the Homunculus Servant operating like a prosthetic limb. It's about on par with having a "Seeing-Eye" Familiar for a character who is blind.
