Hey everyone, I have a little tiny issue with one of my homebrews and I just wanna see if either there's any workarounds for it, or there's just nothing to do for now. To the issue at hand: I made a subclass for Monks with a feature at level 3 that allows you to forgo the damage on your unarmed strikes to instead cause different effects. So I created a separate attack action (since the attack can use WIS instead of STR or DEX for the roll) for it that looks like this:
Which in turn shows this on the character sheet:
Now that works just fine, and is amazing that it can show the 0 damage. The thing that bothers me is that I have to leave the "Weapon attack subtype" dropdown menu empty (selecting the "Natural" option yields same result) since when I change it to Unarmed like this:
It overrides the previous 0 damage with the normal Martial Arts feature damage:
Now, I know this is very nitpicky, and the only issue with not having the attack classify as "Unarmed", would be in the case of items affecting Unarmed Strikes attack rolls, and even then you can easily customize the action. In the interest of trying to keep it as compatible as possible I thought I'd ask if there is something I'm missing or just to confirm that there's nothing to do. Btw, ticking the "Affected by Martial Arts" box yields the result as selecting the "Unarmed" option as before.

I think you have to check the "affected by martial arts" box. I hope this helps
