Hey there, I have a player in my campaign who got a whip during the campaign and has a ridiculous to hit with it. I suspect archery fighting style. He's rolling a +7 to hit with it, and its a +1 whip, and he has a +4 dex mod.
So he should have a +5 to hit should he not? I may have to customize it for a -2 mod if its a DnD Beyond calculation bug.
Yep, math checks out when I look at it that way. I think I was thrown off by contrast with other weapons he has which are mostly strength based (+0) and far less accurate. So holding only two weapons he's proficient and dexterous with they are far far superior for him.
Thanks NCRanger22. Appreciate it

Thanks for any insights you guys can offer!
If he's proficient with the whip, his proficiency bonus would also apply to the roll. So +7 sounds about right.
