Am I the only one thinking that some, if not all, of the Acquisitions Incorporated (AI) spells are perfect for the Artificer? Seems like a strange omission to not allow an Artificer, the quintessential crafters and magical merchants, to use spells like Distort Value, Fast Friends, Gift of Gab and Incite Greed in particular...
I get that AI came out before the Artificer, and that the spells listed only classes available at the time, but they surely they could have been added to the Artificer list when Tasha's came out...
What do we reckon? Oversight? Deliberate intention?
Do you think the Artificer should have access to these spells? Or is there something I'm missing about why they don't have access?
Unfortunately Wizards of the Coast have an annoying policy when it comes to how books interact, which is why we've only had four sub-classes for Artificer (we only got the Armorer because it came with a reprint of the entire class). I've never seen why they couldn't handle more interaction with errata or some kind of free supplemental updates similar to errata for those that have the necessary books.
I absolutely agree that they're suitable spells; if you want to make them available for yourself or players in your content sharing campaigns you can do so via homebrew; when creating a new spell, choose to copy the Acq. Inc. spell you want, and set the available classes to Artificer. Don't add Artificer on top of the existing classes or you'll end up with those seeing two copies of the spell (as that's what you're doing).
Not the most elegant workaround, but it works. Obviously if you're not the group's DM, then run it by the DM first, but IMO the spells you've listed are all suitable Artificer spells; the only one I have problems with is gift of gab because its range is tiny, personally I'd either house-rule it as working on a room up to 10 feet across, then maybe allow upcasting if you embarrass yourself in a larger area.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
