Although I've made Artificer characters on D&D Beyond before, now the option doesn't show up in the class selection page no matter what I do. I've checked if I forgot to broaden my options on the Home Page(for Character Build), but everything's selected. I have no idea how to fix this, or if there was a change made that I'm just unaware of. Please let me know if you are aware of a workaround.
To get the Artificer class, you have to buy one of the subclasses (or the books with the subclasses in it). If you personally have purchased one of those options, you should check your Entitlements, and, if needed, resync them (Hover over your account name in the top right > Go to My Account page > Marketplace tab).
If you did not purchase the subclasses/books, then you may have had access to them through Content Sharing in a campaign. To used Shared content in the character creation process, you have to create the character in the campaign.
If you know you've purchased a subclass/book but can't see it in your Entitlements page, you may have accidentally created a duplicate account (Your account currently says it was created on May 6 2023. If you've been on D&DB longer than that, you probably have a dupe account). The solution to that is a bit more complicated, so try those top two fixes first.
Unfortunately I now have no idea why I should have been able to access the Artificer in the first place. I've never purchased anything on this website, had an account before May 6th, or joined/properly hosted a campaign that would allow for Shared Content. Going back to my Rogue/Warlock ways now. Once again: thank you for your aid.
Hi! New DnD Beyond user here. I was wondering, how do I make myself an artificer? I read in another thread that enabling playtest content allows it, but there isn't an option to do that. I've tried on my computer and phone, but no luck. Do I need to purchase something, or is there another way to get the artificer class? Thanks and have a nice day!
I realise this is an older thread, new users may not be aware that if your character is in a campaign it's possible for a DM to share the required source books without every player having to purchase them
Trying to make an artificer myself. My DM did share Tasha's cauldron of everything but the option for artificer still doesn't come up in character creation. Is there anyway around this or do I have to purchase the content myself?
I had to go into the campaign character page and create it from there. Since that DM is where the content sharing came from, the Artificer showed up as a class option once started the character builder from the campaign character page.
If anyone could help with troubleshooting I would appreciate it, I have purchased each artificer subclass, or at least I believe that I have, but for some reason the character builder is only letting me take the armorer subclass, which is frustrating when I want to play an artillerist.
Dude this is ridiculous. Can someone just say some directions on how to enable playtest content. This problem is happening in 2025. Also, is there a way to do a goblin race in the character creator? I’m wanting to make a goblin artificer (armorer) so I can put a tiny 3’2” dude in a giant mech suit.

The D&D Beyond character builder doesn't support playtest content. This thread from a year and a half ago is not about that, though; it's about the current published version of the Artificer class, which is probably why it hasn't been helpful to you.
A playable Goblin species is available in Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse and can be used in the character builder if you own that book or have access to it through content sharing.
thank you, sadly its worth money that I can't use because I play this as a DND club at school so that's pretty sad, good news is my DM might have that so yippee

Why can’t they make it free ;(
All I want is to make a lvl 5 artificer as a critical NPC for my campaign, if anyone has the stats and spells for an artificer then please tell me
I hate how they make this class a $60 dlc
^ can we can get an answer? This is still an issue going on to 2024.*
*edit
you must have expanded rules turned on in the character creator

Thank you! It I guess I really didn’t notice.
where is the published class?
The original 5e Artificer class can be found in either Eberron: Rising from the Last War or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
The updated version for the 2024 rules hasn't been published yet; it's still in the playtesting phase.

I think armorer or warsmith subclass could be the base subclass
but I would be very happy of warsmith was the base subclass
a base subclass is a subclass that you can get without buying the subclass
