I see conflicting information do I need to buy the digital Tashas from 2014 how do I unlock this class on Dnd beyond.
You need to own (or have access to through content sharing in a campaign) one of the two books it appears in: Eberron: Rising from the Last War or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. As of the time I'm posting this, the digital versions of both books are currently on sale for 20% off. Unless you are specifically going to be playing or running an Eberron campaign, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is probably the better choice, since it has a lot more other character options in it for the same price.
The Artificer class hasn't formally been updated for the 2024 rules yet, but you can still use the old version alongside other 2024 stuff to some extent. A playtest document describing an updated 2024 Artificer class was released recently, but it's not ready for full release yet and the digital tools do not support it.
