All artificer spells have a artificer focus (m) requirement. Focus rules say foci replace "all" components. That includes costly ones however subrules state you must possess costly components. Possessing means it's part of the spell but it isn't the material it's cast through. This fulfills all gfb requirements.
So you must have the weapon but you must also cast through a artificer focus. Alchemist Supplies is a valid artificer foci. Every base is covered.
GFB spell (specific rule) calls out that you must use a weapon to cast. Alchemical Savant (specific rule) states that the spell must be cast using alchemist supplies. But, Alchemy Supplies are very generically defined and it is easy enough to declare (or reskin) a basic weapon as part of your alchemist supplies. (Club or mace = paddle for stirring a cauldron; sickle = tool for gathering ingredients; dagger = dagger/knife used for chopping ingredients; etc.).
Using the weapon as part of the spell does not preclude you from using alchemist supplies as your focus. Using alchemist supplies as your focus does not preclude you from using a weapon as part of the spell. At worst, it just means you gotta use a single-handed weapon and can't use a shield at the same time.
My DM has allowed me to have 2 subclasses because I am from the heavens or something. I have chosen artillerist and arcane archer. Was it a good choice

My DM was nice and let me use my mace as a stirring paddle.
Tried avoiding melee as much as possible. Then having a limit of 2 cantrips, GFB never even came up.
Which is probably why acid splash and fire bolt are on the Artificer spell list.
SS+XBE+Fighter 1 dip = A load of damage
What are those letters?
I suspect it’s Sharpshooter + Crossbow Expert.
I can’t remember what’s supposed to go here.
Sounds about right, but fighter 2 would be infinitely better wouldn’t it?
The Archery fighting style is what they're trying to highlight, specifically in relation to the feats.
Noo need for a fighter dip. If you want the Archery fighting style, just pick Fighting Initiate as a feat. :)
If you ask me, artillerist is the best for pure damage, while battle smith is an all-rounder. Armorer is defence and alchemist is irrelevant.
