Im running a home brewed campaign, the characters are level 6. The world is an island continent the players are trapped on, very similar to sword coast, except with artificers. The island is over run with undead, and various other monsters. There is only one city left that isn’t destroyed on the island continent, it is in the mountains. My adventurers are trying to kill an arch lich, causing all this undeath. The city is protected by wizards and sorcerers whom rule it. Magical technology is a growing resource, as an arms race to kill the ever increasing number of undead.
I want the real BBEG to be armorer artificer, I need ideas for a major twist in their current campaign trajectory? What would his or her name be, what their motivations would be, what weapons they would use? What’s a good artificer organization name? Would they rely on guardian armor or infiltrator armor? Would they have warforged soldiers? Would they have guns, , bombs, airships?
I’m not familiar with Eberron but I want to incorporate the feel of it into this campaign. The last thing my players are expecting is a artificer cue, with their current focus of the undead.

This suggestion may be a little too late to be of any help, but it sounds like you might just want to drop Doctor Doom into your campaign.
Bark side up, bark side down, it really, truly does not matter.
Oh it’s still relevant, thank you!
