The Eldritch cannon lasts one hour, and every bonus action, the Artificer can give multiple creatures within a radius 1d8+int temp HP. If the characters use this an hour before expected combat, twice every 6 seconds for one hour, they gain at minimum 1, at maximum 13 temporary health. Have I misread something? Or does my party get at least 600 temporary health because my 20 int artificer thought an hour ahead? This can't be right.
I am currently playing a multi-classed Artificer (Artillerist)/Wizard (Abjuration). My Eldritch Cannon is my non-magical arcane focus (staff). 90% of the time, it is in temp hp mode. I don't usually use my bonus action for anything other than handing out temporary hp. This character is currently Artificer 3/Wizard 13.

Watch your back, conserve your ammo, and NEVER cut a deal with a dragon!
Its not that powerful higher levels but you really feel the temp HP when everyone is level 3 and standing next to the cannon. I think it takes DM's by surprise the first time, but strictly worse than Twilight Cleric's sanctuary because of its range.
At 3rd level this class has an ability to give (1d8+intelligence modifier) temporary HP to allies in 10-foot radius. He can use the ability every round for an hour.Temporary HP cannot be stacked, but they do last until a long rest. This ability seems totally broken to me.Let’s assume at third level a character has a +3 INT modifier. The 1d8+3 has an average of 7.5.Over the course of an hour, it can be used 600 times.Around 18 medium characters could fit inside a 10-foot radius. An army of 10,000, if moving efficiently, could march through the area (18x600=10,800).So, a 3rd level character can generate 75,000 temporary HP (7.5x10,000) for an army? How did this ability make It through play-testing?
