There are literally rules for a light repeating crossbow in Out of the Abyss. I don't know why they aren't listed in the inventory list on character creation, but they do exist, they are D&D 5E canon.
Step 1: Find a non-magical crossbow. Step 2: "Repeat" Step 1, via the Repeating Shot Infusion. Step 3: Dakka. Step 4: Dakka Dakka. Step 5: DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA!!!
Seriously though. This is a fun infusion to pick up, should anyone at your table need a magical crossbow, and/or doesn't feel like keeping track of ammo. This is especially strong on a Battle Smith, as you can attack with your Int mod while using said crossbow, and it's basically as simple as picking this Infusion up and activating it, as soon as you can gain access to Infusions in general. I will say that this isn't exactly a late-game Infusion, however. After all, ammo's cheap, most archers will have picked up the Crossbow Expert feat by late game, and your DM will likely give you the ability to purchase a magical crossbow or two, eventually. For the early game, however, it's definitely an ace Infusion to grab.

My first time making a Artificer and I heard that you could make a repeating crossbow so I just want to know how to make one
Specifically , a non-magical crossbow.
Thanks
