Hey, scrawny person here. I am 30 lb. underweight (former/recovering eating disorder) and also I used to do weight lifting and stuff like that, and I've had to fight to defend myself. When I get mad (or rage) I, a 90 lb. girl, can beat the living sh-- out of somebody, you can be skinny and a barbarian, end of story
I am now 80 pounds, my point stands stronger than ever.

Guidelines help ensure a level of fairness or consistency in decision-making. Even if they're not enforced as hard rules, they give a baseline that can be referred to when disagreements arise. Plus, consistency for the players, no matter what the guides are, ensure immersion.
For newcomers, guidelines serve as a learning tool, offering a starting point or best practices. They also allow for continuous improvement as people can iterate on the existing guidelines based on what works or doesn't.
Example
In my D&D universe, Barbarians don't pray like Paladins or Clerics, as they have direct divine connection to a god as a source of their powers, where the Barbarians draw their strength from for their primal instincts, rage and ancestral traditions.
In my article, I write about this subject, "Barbarian Prays?" inspired from the movie "Conan the Barbarian" (1982), Crom is referenced several times, most notably in a scene where Conan prays to Crom before the final battle, seeking strength and vowing that if Crom does not listen, then "to hell with him!"
