The most annoying thing for a D&D bard to do is to play one single instrument that is Large sized and requires two hands for them to carry. How about one of the 6 ft tall harps with 47 strings weighing 81 lbs. Hauling this thing around will be far more annoying than any sound you make.
I was about to ask how we got this many posts in and nobody has mentioned the accordion yet. Unless you are a master, those sound bad even when played right.
Any stringed instrument, but the strings are so low-quality that they just won’t stay tuned. Even if you play it correctly, it’ll still sound terrible. This idea was inspired by my uncle (a collector of stringed instruments). He had a mandolin that just wouldn’t stay tuned long enough to play more than a few notes before going sour.
