I'm sorry in advance because I'm sure this has been asked before but is there a way for saving throws for spells to be better?
In my current campaign, which is Shattered Obelisk, I play a college of creation bard with a pretty high spell save but with almost any spell I cast (IE Slow) my opponents almost always save. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It's getting old fast just wasting turns again and again.
Unfortunately sometimes you do just get a run of bad luck with things like this, but some things to consider:
Different spells force different types of saving throws, and different creatures are bad or good at different types of saving throws. Big strong things are usually good at Strength and Constitution saves, but might be bad at some of the mental saves.
As a Bard you might have the cantrip Mind Sliver, which imposes a penalty on the target's next saving throw.
There are also lots of other abilities that other characters in your party might have that may be able to impose disadvantage or other penalties on enemies' saving throws. Talk to them and see if there are things they can do to help set you up for success.
There are also a variety of magic items that increase your spell save DC.
Consider also that some spells (usually damage-oriented ones) still have an effect even if the target makes their save (usually half the normal amount of damage).
Another important consideration is that some monsters have "magic resistance" giving them advantage on making saves vs. spells. In those cases its hard to make spells stick. Player side there is little you can do to an increase your spell DC once you have hit 20 in your casting stat. Instead the game shifts to targetting weak saves, and figuring out spells and actions that don't require saves or save for half damage so you are still effective.
Another approach is buffing your allies. Enlarging the party barbarian or casting heroism on them. Intellect fortress can be very useful as well.

Thanks for any help.
