As per the title, I'm thinking of making a Twilight cleric using PHB 2024 Cleric template, for my friend's new campaign starting in a month or so.
Does anyone have any knowledge on how this will work? I've read a few posts that they've designed it so players can pick subclasses from older content and still make it work in the 2024 cleric, just need to avoid doing things like picking double stats etc. But what about things like twilight cleric getting access to heavy armour, but then I want to go the caster version of cleric at lvl 1? Would this valid/stack?
Also thinking of things like custom variant race, how would that fit with the new species/backgrounds?
I'm playing a Twilight Cleric in a campaign. The Twilight Cleric abilities do not 'kick in' until level 3, when all 2024 Subclass features happen. I ran the character a 'regular' cleric for levels 1 & 2.
When using the older subclasses with the 2024 Cleric class, certain things work differently. The heavy armor or thaumaturge options are now a part of your class, not subclass like in 2014. The same goes for the divine strike/potent spellcasting features from the old subclasses.
What does transfer over are the unique subclass features, though the ones you used to get at level 1 you now get at level 3 instead. The subclass spell lists should also be used with the 2024 version of spells where they have been updated.
So in the case of the Twilight Domain, you would get the following features
