Heya,so... i wanted to remake my corellon elven cleric of life to one of arcane domain, so far so good right?
Well originally my cleric's druidic oriented family disowned him for wanting to attribute healing magic to the elven god corellon and wishing to spread that aid where his family saw it as an insult to the spirits and their family heritage.
But say he doesnt focus on his elven healing heritage, and instead focuses on another noble elven ideal that druids wouldnt be on board with.
What would such focus look like? Would it be like the would be cleric seeing druidic magic as limited and believeing it to be a more beautiful tapestry of art? And therefore they would shun him,as they would see it as him giving legitimacy for arcane magic that warps nature in a way around him, like how high elves do it? Its all pretty blurry and unclear for me and i would appricate a clear and clean reason for a wood elf in a druidic society to go worship corellon in an arcane domain sort of way, something that druids would disown someone over.
I think the conflict between a backwards facing, strictly traditional and nature oriented society and a young elven cleric seeking to explore more of the world should be a deep enough chasm. You don't have to be diowned by your family, you could just be curious about a world you haven't expirienced before -maybe Corellon has shown you a glimps of what is to see beyond the forest and what magics you could get beyond the druidic spells.
you could embrace other parts of your eleven heritage, like using a longsword and trying to get ahold of a suit of elven chain armor. I guess druids might use the sword (if they were somehow proficient), but the metal armor would be a no-no. And maybe you like trees as much as the next guy, and think they’re important sure, but the idea that one could be sacred is just silly to you.
As far as why you would go worship corellon, well many clergy irl say they feel a calling. In a world where gods routinely talk to their followers and people often see celestials, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say corellon, or one of his agents, choose you.
