Hi guys I'm looking at adding some Druids to my shop, I've got a gnome on the go, hes awesome and i cant wait to get him finished. but what races would people most like to see and use as druids? I could always look into doing some little kit bashes to create something totally awesome.
I'm playing the a moon druid Ghostwise Hobbit (calling them halflings is just copyright thing) for the telepathy to be able to communicate while wild shaped. Never played a hobbit before and one thing I didn't expect was how often I have been able to use their feature to reroll one's on d20 rolls
Arguably anything with a wisdom or dex bonus makes a good druid. I add dex because druids really have armor problems, so a +2 to Dex is really valuable long term.
Wood elf is very good, I have built a few with Fierna Tiefling (the daily charm person cast as 2nd level is very nice), Aarakocra if you want to fly, Water Genasi get a few spells, everybody needs a Firbolg build.
For the ones without a wisdom bonus, I think a Tabaxi and a Halfling could be the most fun. I like the idea of a Ghostwise halfling offered since it does get a +1 to Wisdom.
If you have Tasha’s or use the floating asi rules then you can pretty much play whatever race you want! Before that book though, I personally love elves like everyone else, so I just used a Wood Elf. Forbolg’s are also good choices. Kalashtar’s may also be a fun, flavorful choice. And you really can’t go wrong with variant human.
if you are planning on making a moon druid, you should have an eye out for races whose features can be used while in wild shape, for instance dragonborn druids can apparently use their breath weapons in wild shape form and shifter druids could combine wild shape and shifting, and a ghostwise halfling could use their telepathy and luck in wild shape form, and a aasimar would be able to enter their special angel form while also being a bear to further terrify the poor evildoer who stands in your way, etc etc, be creative and have fun. Having a wisdom ASI is good but being a bear that breathes fire is better
