This build has a lot of delicious flavor! I'm playing a Dragonborn BM with a traditional build right now so it's not something I could change at this point, but if I ever get to play a dart throwing BM in a one shot at some point, I think it'll be a ton of fun!
Playing variant human for early access to an extra feat makes this build much more serviceable by level 8.
The 2 levels of Artificer are also a solid dip to get weapon of returning, and being able to sit at 60ft range with 20+ AC AND the Shield spell for emergencies will be frustrating at all get out for enemies. You also have answers for when an enemy gets into melee with you. I love this build, it has a very Naruto flavor to it (darts can reskin into Kunai really easily).
I feel like main practical appeal of thrown weapon fighting style is that it increases the effective damage for a melee build since you don't always have enough movement to get to an enemy. (The style is cool ofc.) You also don't need to invest in DEX if you are using thrown weapons like spears, handaxes, javelins, etc.
Smaller thrown weapons are also a lot easier to hide than a cross bow or bow.
