Has anyone thought of using a Dedicated Weapon short bow alongside the 4E abilities? Instead of spending say 9 Ki on Water Whip or Fist of Unbroken Air, perhaps spend 8 and then use Ki-Fueled Attacks with the short bow and Sharpshooter feat, using that leftover Ki on Focused Aim to boost the hit if needed. Wouldn't that result in higher damage overall?
Overall dedicated weapon is an awesome feature and I'm glad it exists. However this scenerio suggests you take the Sharpshooter feat instead of increasing Dex/Wis which would likely reduce your damage per day enough that it's not worth it.
You would miss with attacks more often or have a lower ki DC and thus a lower save.
I think that 4E needs some features that either don't rely on ki or at least synergies with the basic monk stuff
I've seen people take the Mobile feat and not suffer too much, so I would consider swapping Mobile for Sharpshooter on occasion. I wouldn't do it for all races, but playing as a Half Elf (swapping +2 Cha for Wis) would allow you to start with 16s in the 3 main stats. That's a reasonable grounding to progress on.
If you're rolling and get a good set of rolls then it's not going to be a problem at all.

Rolling well opens up a lot for sure.
Otherwise I think mobile would be a better feat pick here as it works better with the whole monk kit.
Half elf would be the best too so you can get those elf weapons to use as dedicated for sure!
I was wondering could I use different spells, or would that off set it. I wanted to use Stink Cloud and Killcloud (don't remember the spell level max so forgive me if Killcloud is overkill) for my clown monk character. If you were wondering why it's because Stink Cloud could be described as Laugh Cloud and Killcloud would be Mustardcloud. I know pretty dark but would that off set the power/balance of the 4 Elements monk? Or did someone already go over this
My monk was pure offence, very little defense with the exception of deflect missle. I used fist of unbroken air and fangs of the fire snake also per my dm I purchased a 3rd party patreon build specifically for the four elements monk where I could use fireball. You might have to reflavor some of the features of your monk to fit the theme, consult your dm to see if that would be allowed.

Thanks so much Fateless!
I was really hoping someone would tell me the pros of Way of 4 Elements. Now I can fulfill my character idea at long last! Without killing my party!
Again thank you.
