I have a dark brooding paladin that I am havign trouble deciding on wether to make him an oathbreaker or an oath of vengeance character. My paladin comes from a family of adventurers/heroes who (when he was 7) were killed by other adventurers and then his vilage was burned to the ground. He amazingly survived but was left emotionally scarred and started down a dark path. His main goal is to find the adventurers and their leader and exact hs revenge by killing them. Now I am wondering wether he should be an oathbreaker or an oath of vengeance paladin. Which do you think seems more fitting. Any votes and comments are appreciated.
It depends if the DM gives you the option to play an evil paladin in Oathbreaker, otherwise Vengeance might be the only Oath left to choose.
Personally, Oath of Vengeance fits more the description than you made than a fallen paladin breaking his previous sacred oath to pursue some dark ambitions.
