That is a good ranger variant from Treantmonk. I hadn't seen that yet. He does a good job of keeping many of the existing mechanics while broadening them or refining them to address many of the objections from players.
That is good, I still think changing out your terrain and foe that easily is pushing the bounds of reality even for DnD. I would be happy with being able to change one of each out every level while adding an additional one to each every fifth level (1, 5, 10, 15, 20). That should be frequent enough as well as providing room for growth and character evolution.
