Hi. I'm pretty new to playing a Ranger, and I'm going into a Candlekeep Mysteries campaign at Level 13. I pretty much have my heart set on playing a Gnome Horizon Walker, but I'm unsure about whether or not I want to play melee or ranged and if I want to multiclass into Rogue. I personally would rather play ranged as I've never played a ranged character before but I'm unsure if that's what's best for the class. What are your opinions?
Ranged works extremely well with both Rangers in general and the horizon walker in particular. I don't know if I would bother multiclassing since 13th level is when you get 4th level spells.

Yeah, I thought about it, and I think I'm going to go mono-Ranger and also play ranged. I think everything is in order. I also took Sharpshooter and Squat Nimbleness as my level 4 and 8 feats and then raised my Dex by 2 as my Level 12 ASI. I was also allowed to take 2 magic items, one uncommon and one rare so I chose a +2 Longbow and Serpent Scale Armor for its ability to add my full dex modifier to my AC and doesn't impose disadvantage on Stealth which I have Expertise in.

I absolutely love squat nimbleness. Great feat on a short character.
Nice work.
Serpent Scale is an excellent choice for an Uncommon item. Another option is the Bracers of Archery to boost your dpr even further.
