I've been trying to establish if the Rogue subclass "The Revived" is considered an undead character or not. I've seen mixed opinions online, but so far I haven't found a definitive ruling. If someone could clarify this for me, and PLEASE provide a link to their reference, that would be super.
More context: Someone in my group is playing a Revived Rogue character, and I'm trying to decide if my Necromancer-Cleric is able to mess with that person (e.g. Can I cast "Turn Undead" on them). It seems to me that everything about the subclass indicates that they are undead (don't need to eat/drink/breath, resistance to poison, advantage against poisoning and disease, don't need to sleep--just stay still for a bit).
As the subclass does not state "you count as an undead creature", I would personally say that by the rules it is not. You can find in the original Centaur race UA that there was a feature that specifically called them out as counting as another creature type, so I believe there's a precedent for such a thing being specified -- which it is not on the Revived Rogue.
To think otherwise, in my opinion, is a very strong implication to take from it -- as that would mean you can't use healing spells on your Rogue, as they typically specify that they have no effect on an undead creature. I think if that was the intent, to count a Revived Rogue as an undead type creature, it would be specified.
For narrative purposes, I view the Revived Rogue I'm DMing for as 'between' life, death, and undeath. It makes them a unique anomaly in the world, not something that can be easily grouped in with other creatures.

This is excellent! I see your reasoning, and I think it makes sense based on what you said.
Thank you!
