I have to agree the smite spells in my ratings are a tier lower than Eldritch Smite. The reasons being:
1. You have to use it upfront so you cannot wait to see if your 2nd or 3rd (Crossbow Expert) attack might crit since optimally you want to drop the smite on a crit.
2. It uses your bonus action and warlocks in general have many things they can do with their bonus actions from casting and moving spells like Hex to potentially making another attack through a feat like Crossbow Expert.
3. Stacking smites is actually not a Pro for a warlock that for the majority of most campaigns have 2 spell slots. Blowing your load on 1 enemy may not be very beneficial besides inflating your ego at dropping a large amount of damage in a hit (exception being if its the BBEG).
4. Eldritch Smites proning effect is optional but you will most likely use it regardless because it gives advantage to any melee allies that are whacking the enemy. Also proning flying enemies rate as a 10/10 on the fun scale lol.
I wouldn't use crossbow expert. Without homebrew, you can't use a hand crossbow as a pact weapon with IPW...so there's no bonus action attack possible. Use a longbow and save the feat.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

Not true, you just need a magical hand crossbow. No homebrew needed.
Pact of the Blade
You can use your action to create a pact weapon in your empty hand. You can choose the form that this melee weapon takes each time you create it. You are proficient with it while you wield it. This weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Your pact weapon disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this feature again, if you dismiss the weapon (no action required), or if you die.
You can transform one magic weapon into your pact weapon by performing a special ritual while you hold the weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest.
You can then dismiss the weapon, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact weapon thereafter. You can't affect an artifact or a sentient weapon in this way. The weapon ceases being your pact weapon if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different weapon, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The weapon appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.
Just need to chat with your DM about it beforehand to ensure you will be able to access one during the campaign.

Yeah, the +1,+2 and +3 weapons and armor are presumed to exist for all weapons and armor. It's just in the DMG as +x weapon and +x armor. Its the unique ones with special effects that allot of weapons lack.
Sorry to Necro this, just want you to know you’re not alone. I’m going to be playing a Feylock Longbowman with Oberon as a patron in my next campaign. Pretending your Eldritch Blast is a bow is fine and all but it’s so much more fun to play a non-Hexblade Martial Warlock.

Please show me the magic hand crossbow listed in the DMG.
I stand corrected, there actually IS one. https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/crossbow-hand-1
