So, I have an idea for a warlock, who has a shoulder devil and angel named Rotalak and Kalator and I would like any feedback on him. He was the child of very powerful heroes and when he was born, an Archdevil sent an imp to him in an attempt to corrupt him and gain a valuable pawn. Unfortunately for him, an Archangel had a similar idea. An imp and angel both came to him and tried to influence his behavior by standing on either shoulder and whispering in his ears. The child grew up protected by the super natural creatures but also constantly hounded and every decision he had to make sparked an intense argument from the polar opposite creatures. The angel tried to lead him on a path of heroism and goodness, while the devil tried to cause him to become an evil monster. They would occasionally go to great risks in order to influence him such as how the angel led a monster to his town to try to force him to rescue the inhabitants, and the devil framed crimes against him in order to force him to become a criminal. Mostly though, they checked each other and prevented the other from doing anything too drastic. All this chaos left its mark on the boy, and he grew to ignore the advice of his advisors sometimes when it made no sense to do so. He would often go out of his way to choose an option that the angel and devil did not offer. Other times he would find a way of choosing both options. (Example: Robbing a bank and donating the money to an orphanage) These actions both infuriated the creatures and tantalized them. Neither feel that he is a lost cause, and they are afraid of giving up on him for fear that the other would win an ally to their side. Both offered him power if he would forge a pact with them, and somehow, the pacts fused, and he became a hexblade. Both of them have invested power in him, and so they are unwilling to release him, but he seems to continue to choose his own path as much as possible. Defying their advice at every possible chance.
He would be either a human, aasimar, or tiefling and would wield a longsword that appears to be forged from two intertwining metals, one shadowy and black, another radiant and golden. I am leaning towards a human to get the magic initiate feat in order to get the find familiar spell. That way I can have my familiars at first level and get the pact of the blade feature later on in order to have access to certain invocations to increase my abilities with a weapon. I know that this character would require some DM leniency because of the two familiars, but I wouldn't ask to use two at a time. My imp would obey me whenever I seem to be favoring it, and my angel (probably a reskinned, celestial sprite) would aid me when I am leaning towards its goals. My character would be chaotic neutral though and firmly attempt to stay there while the imp is trying to sway him to the lawful evil side and the angel is trying to convert him to the lawful good side. He would dislike law and any rules because his helpers are always trying to establish rules and binding restrictions over him.
The imp, Rotalak, would always be coaxing him into giving into ruthlessness and greed. While the angel, Kalator, would be trying to make him self-sacrificing, honorable, and make him go out of his way to help others and vanquish evil.
The Warlock however dislikes being nagged and having these creatures trying to influence everyone of his actions. So, he would try to deny them control as much as possible, and never sticking with one or the other. If he helps someone, he may go steal something later in order to keep the angel in his place and keep the support of the devil. This would cause him to become an incredibly chaotic person.
Finally, what do y'all think about this character. I really like the idea but I recognize there are some bugs. Are there any mechanical tips y'all would give or roleplaying advice y'all have for me? Do you know how well this would fit in with a mostly good aligned party? I feel as though he may be too chaotic to play with a group of serious players with good alignments. On the other hand, it might add some variety to the group and if played well, it might not be bad. So if you have any tips, suggestions, or other feedback I would be happy to hear it.

This requires leniency on more than just the more than 1 familiar, it also requires leniency on allowing a specific pact of the chain familiar when you are trying to be pact of the blade. My tip right now is you are trying to do too much with one character. I would drop the Hexblade part entirely and focus on the shoulder angel and devil thing. Either having a Celestial Patron or the Fiend Patron. My recommendation would be the Celestial Patron pact of the chain and have an Imp. In this case the character wants to be good and has sided with the angel on his shoulder, but the temptation of more power and easy solutions by the devil (the chain imp) on his shoulder is always there and looming, if he ever gives in it could mean that the archdemon pulls him away. In addition, the familiar (imp) is still technically its own character. It will follow your orders, but it may try to trick you into ordering evil acts, or interpret them in evil ways. There are rules in Tasha's cauldron for changing subclasses, and in this case, patrons based on the story and, should the character fall to the "Darkside" as it were you could change from a Celestial lock to a Fiend Lock.
Hope this helps, if not hope you still have fun regardless.
You can summon imps and sprites with find familiar using the variant rules in the monster manual right? Every DM I know allows it. But I think you may be right about changing him to a celestial warlock and having an imp familiar. It would take away a little bit of the chaos and make him work better with the rest of the party. Thanks for responding.

No, the variant rule allows you to make a magical deal with an imp or a sprite you meet and then they act as a familiar for you. In this case the familiars shape doesnt change and you don't have full control of it, it is a variant rule, not a variant rule for the find familiar spell. If you could just do that with the find familiar spell than pact of the chain would not need to exist and the invocations related to it could just have the "find familiar spell" pre-req.
Edit. In short the find familiar spell does as is listed. Chain allows it to do the more. The variant rule requires you to find a familiar through gameplay, has nothing to do with the spell and requires no magic whatsoever from the PC.
That makes sense but I think all the DMs I play with allow imps and the like as options for find familiar. I do like that idea though and may use it when I DM. Then my hexblade idea really wouldn't work because the pact of the blade has a lot of invocations that make using a weapon worthwhile instead of eldritch blast. It would be nice if the pact of the blade invocations also could be used by hexblades with different pacts.

If your gm's allow it, abuse the hell out of it. Flying invisible intelligent slaves with hands that can pop out of existence with a snap of you fingers is very powerful for anyone to have access to. But I am glad I could help.
