They have not yet announced how, or if, you can play a ‘14 subclass and a ‘24 base class. They’ve said some things that kind of give (me) the impression that you can’t mix the two. But that’s my opinion; it’s not been explicitly addressed.
That is what I meant in a way. They gave the core class many of the features of the subclass 9Via Invocations). I hope they add Armor of Hexes. It saved my character's life a few times.

We don't know how (or if) they'll update it in the future to compensate. Talk to your GM about adding features to compensate.
My personal theory is that they'll let it lie, as it was more a patch to pact of the blade than it was a thematically coherent patron.
I think adapting 5'14 subclasses to 5'24 classes shouldn't be too hard. The biggest thing you need to do is align subclass abilities around starting at 3rd level, since they're standardizing that for all classes now.
What do you do if you want to play 2024 Base class warlock with published Hexblade subclass?
Ask your DM. If they say yes then just do it and take the level 1 subclass feature at level 3.
But really there's no need. Pact of the Blade now lets you hit with Cha, I believe that it will be easy to get medium armour and shield proficiency through an invocation, and both Fiend and Archfey have some much more interesting gish options.
So officially they have guidelines to port it over. I would say you should be good to use it with the slight caveat that it might be best to use it in a dual-wielding playstyle since then both your hex blade weapon and your pact of the blade weapon would scale off charisma
One element for any of the subclasses not covered that are level one classes is boosting them to level three
looking at what is known, it seems that mostly they get all their level 1 and 3 known spells at level 3 (plus one more?) but also the special ability operates more than once a day
so I would imagine hexblade would get shield, wrathful smite, blur and branding smite known spells, and some upgrade to hex blade curse, in addition to the weapon and armor proficienciesand getting a second charisma based pact weapon.
the main question for home brew is how to upgrade the curse. Perhaps cast it a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus or charisma modifier?
In 2024 rules, class features are no longer tied to proficiency bonus as it's too strong for multiclass. If You were to big any features, I would either tie it to main stat or just dictate when it can be used more often or scales better

Excellent point. So hexblade curse should be warlock level number of times or charisma modifier number of times. If I understand correctly, the GOO and Celestial special abilities turn on the warlock level, while the archfey special ability turns on the charisma modifier.
If you want to keep it simple, just keep it as is sp the lock can have 2 weapons scale of CHA
or
Make it the true spellblade patron. When you hit level 3 you can pick up a fighting style feat and a weapon mastery that you can change out once per long rest.

You'll probably have to homebrew it, though as I understand it, there's going to be some guidelines in the PHB or DMG about how to do that.
However, the Hexblade is getting a lot of its base features eaten by the improved pact of the blade.

It's supposed to be backwards compatible. You'd likely be able to plug it right in. It might be awkward but I don't think it'd be that weird.
