Wizards have their stereotypical towers to retreat to. But there is no stereotype warlock dwelling...we are all too different. A celestial is going to have very different needs and wants when compared to a fiendish warlock. with different patrons and different pacts there is no pigeonhole we fit into.
so assuming you hit a decent horde and you are ready to settle down...Where would you make you warlock's lair?
and please list your patron/pact as well:
here is mine:
Vandal Mourn. Heaxblade/Chain. He has 4 levels of sorcerer to Quicken Spell his eldritch blasts. Otherwise he is a straight Hexblade. He is a nice guy (good aligned) with some evil powers. He looks to do the best good as he can with the tools he's been given. (he has speak with dead and will later get the danse machaber)
Vandal would take a fortified manor house. It is a poor man's castle. It has no towers or battlements. It is just a small mansion with thick walls and arrow slits on the first floor. It is roomier and more comfortable that a tower and has a LOT less stair climbing to do. Vandal would not live in a city, but would choose a town on a good trade route. He could have his solitude and still order his luxuries. His small staff can live in same town.
OK your turn. where would you settle down to? An inn? A shrine? a Fest Hall? A tower? an actual castle? Take over a cleared out dungeon?
A Romani wagon (aka ***** Caravan) outfitted to double as a small Riverboat.
Otto "Uncle Nod" Festerpot. A goblin (half-goblin, really) is a Celestial Warlock raised by an adopted daughter of Baba Yaga. As a youth, he served as a guide and boatman through the Festerpots--a stinking caldera of boiling swamps and endless bayou. He used treasure from his adventures to have a custom wagon/boat constructed.
In practical terms, its a lot easier to have a mobile home as a base of operations during adventures...

Lord Julius Danvers is a half-elf Fiend-pact Warlock I'm playing. He is a nobleman who's family has prestige in a merchants guild. A pact with Dispater has improved the family fortunes.
A small villa on the outskirts of a seaside town would be ideal for Julius. A moderate yet fancy manor where he could entertain guests and enjoy a life of debauchery when not travelling.
Warlocks are "driven by an insatiable need for knowledge and power", so "settling down" may not be in their cards. Though, there is plenty to be discovered through research, and that could lead someone to remain in place for a while.
That said, my go-to "home" for a successful Warlock is definitely going to be a series of Demiplanes that I could travel between.
Private library, laboratory, vault, prison, lobby, etc.
Permanent.
No expensive material components.
There isn't a whole lot of information about what the traits of a demiplane are, other than that each one is a 30ft cubed room. If you can choose the demi-plane's traits, there are a ton of opportunities to explore, and if not, it can be filled the old fashioned way.
Plane Shift + Demiplane can give the Warlock plenty of flexibility to come and go regularly, but they would take the place of some pretty powerful spells.
Edit: Combine it with Finger of Death to create a summonable gateway to a demiplane filled with an undead horde permanently under your control.
Being the type who is so driven toward power so much so that they make a pact with some entity, I would insert myself among the upper echelon of society. Being charismatic I would pass myself off as more than what I am and adventure until I could buy a home among the wealthier merchants and minor nobility.
He unslings his lute, and earns a few silvers a night playing in a local tavern. He distracts attention from himself by drawing attention to himself, in a different way.
Given he's a Bladelock with Armor of Shadows he doesn't even appear to be armed with anything larger than a dagger most of the time.
My last warlock was a wandering minstrel. His home is whichever tavern will give him a bed and food in exchange for him singing. As he gets more powerful he’s going to stay on the road. He likes traveling!

I love demiplane. This is the ultimate mobile home. I wish there was a mechanic to combine Demiplanes into larger room or series of rooms...you could slowly design your own demiplane warlock mansion. I keep a single demiplane that looks like the inside of a creepy old hut.
My Tomelock Zyon currently owns a share of a tavern out of the original 5 players from that game there is only 2 of us left with our original characters. So my shares have increased lol. The rest of the party don't think the way I do and if Creed dies then it is all mine!

This was too prophetic, we played Saturday night and Creed is dead. Now if I can only survive to the surface, then the Tavern is mine!
My HB Warlock set up a brothel in Phandalin. She actually was up in Neverwinter, and convinced Madam Cupcake to relocate herself and her associates in the "Lady Slipper" brothel (disguised as a bakery) to pack up, and head down to Phandalin. Our party already removed the corrupt Mayor, and replaced him with a loyal town guard (the Paladin's idea) and we had a prosperous bar (our Drunken Monk's idea...) so this made sense economically to the region. So, she set up the "Tasty Tiefling" bakery in the old mayor's house.
She vowed to protect these women with her life, and paid them handsomely. She wanted them to never have to worry about any misfortune.
After we hit level 20, she "retired" to be the warden in a prison in the 5th level of Hell, where we had earlier spent a couple levels fighting some Cambions. She had killed the previous warden, and kind of liked it, so she decided to return.

My Warlock isn't a power seeker. Heck, she spent the last 5 years having no clue she was under a pact at all.
She does like books though, so she would probably buy a nice house and turn it into a personal library.

Zombie storage! You think like a warlock!!!
My Warlock resides is a nice canal front condo down the street from her favorite gastropub.
Abide.
I think the best solution would be a spell that allows you to link a door to a demiplane, and the just make a bunch of them.
