new player here. Currently working on one of my next characters I want to play. I've been trying to iron out her backstory. Basic idea is she was once loyal to the celestial gods, but the toll of the evil in the world (from those that do evil deeds and those that don't truly fight for justice/goodness) has made her snap. She sees all these evil people taking advantage of the innocent, and she sees these other people who hide behind the constructs of justice and goodness and allow these atrocities to happen. It's just a back and forth that never ends.
I was thinking she would be a chaotic evil. She's someone who believed in the gods and goodness, but has just been beat down by what they allow to happen. She's just become hell bent on destroying everything because everyone is wrong in her eyes. Here's the short backstory I wrote into my backstory section. Does it make sense for the most part? Only thing really tripping me up now is why am I joining up with this random party of adventurers?
Vatoris was once a proud follower of the celestial gods. A life served fighting the evils of the world on behalf of the divine realm. The atrocities of the world began to take a toll on Vatoris, and when she stumbled upon a man burying a murdered child her last thread of hope was severed.
Though the man swore it was an accident, it was the final straw for Vatoris. She killed the man and swore to fight back against a cruel world. Anyone willing to cross her path would face her anger. Sensing a moment of opportunity, Vatoris was approached by a demon. The demon promised to give Vatoris the power to fight those that opposed her. Entering the pact would give her the Warlock powers required to destroy everything and everyone in her path.
With the fiendish spells provided by her patron, she can begin to exact her will on the world. To destroy those that cause so much agony to others. And to destroy those that hide and lie behind the concepts of: justice, goodness, and law.
You got a solid story, though character seems to be more Lawful evil rather than chaotic, which kinda more fitting, for a patron to be a devil rather than a demon, since demons don't care for anything other than wanton destruction to everything that exists while devils do care for a form of "balance". but it's your story. The way i think this character can fit in a party if she acts as the one who does things that no other can can do like torturing a captured enemy or being the executioner that never hesitates.

Are you starting this character at level 1? If so, how do you reconcile that fact with your backstory..”a life served fighting the evils of the world”. This would imply more experience than a level 1 PC. I see this a lot in backstories.
Also, like Arlong, I wasn’t clear on your characters alignment. I saw some implied goodness in her chaos. A desire to protect innocents.

Yes. was planning to start level 1 unless I came across a campaign that I could start higher level. I thought a life served fighting the evils of the world would lend to how she became a Fallen Aasimar. I was initially thinking she would be chaos evil like I posted, but now thinking lawful evil after Arlong's reply.
Alignment aside the concept is time tested and when done well an excellent character to have at the table. Though I must point out for LE to work well it is also very important for the player to have an idea of the characters end goals, and I don't mean arbitrary ideas or ideals. Have a goal, an attainable one and an overarching long goal. Those will help keep your character seated nicely within the party and without a lot of complications that may come up from regular play. It's also worth mentioning that attempts be made to keep the character "believable" in some aspect. Something akin to the idea that not even Skeletor or Sauron can be grumpy on christmas or what have you.
Just remember, honor your agreements... to the letter, in the fine print, on page 37, which is currently in the elemental realm of fire, in another bag of holding, written in Cthulhu speak.

Awesome, thank you very much for responding!

Ah Hello again Lawful Evil, my favorite corner.
