As an example, there may be cases when a character should not get their hit points back after a long rest. I would like to see a way to prevent that when you click the long rest button, rather than having to note the current hit points and manually add the damage back after completing a long rest. One option might be, when clicking long rest, to have a check box for hit point recovery and a check box for spell recovery and so on. They could be checked by default. That way, if for example there is a reason the characters should not get all their hit points back after a long rest, they can uncheck the hit point recovery box when the click the long rest button.
Maybe the characters are affected by a special kind of lingering damage; the reasons don't really matter, just that it could happen. But I'll explain my situation: In my campaign, a character reduced from 100 hit points to 2 hit points doesn't wake up fully healed the next day without magic or medical attention. We have our own home brew for how much they recover (their level in hit points after a long rest). I'd still like my players to be able to click long rest to recover their spells and other abilities, but I'd like them to be able to uncheck a box or something for the hit point recovery. As things are, every time they click long rest, they have to make note of their hit points so they don't have to note their hit points and add the damage back after a long rest automatically restores them to full.
