Hello world! I'm running a campaign with two Player Characters, each with their own sidekick. Reading through various historical threads I've built the Sidekicks as NPCs and the PCs equipped them as Extras, so this is post is directed to the DDB devs for accumulated feedback and to collect ideas to improve the mechanic representation on DDB proper.
1. We need a Sidekick builder with dedicated templates, controlled by Players for ongoing management and leveling. Make them a separate character sheet rather than an inventory item.
2. The Encounter Builder can be GREATLY improved with a function to allow Sidekicks as additional characters and/or the ability to move a monster/NPC to the PC's side of the fight.
I understand this is a massive ask; the ability to use any monster/creature/race (with a spoken language) is a major lift across 3 separate Sidekick templates. Me and my players will be eternally grateful, and I'm sure there are many campaigns out there with Sidekicks struggling with similar issues. I boiled down my gripes to two main points, but if other DMs or Players have more suggestions, let's hear them!
1 agreed, and more specifically, a monster builder is planned, but they have been working on the character sheet for a while to try and both support content that came out in the DMG that they never supported as well as future proof against the more creative content WotC has been putting out recently and going forward.
