This may the one of the quickest and easiest moves to get people using the 2D VTT...search for NPC or commoner and wahlah
Edit: To be clear, there are plenty of tokens, but not these types that are just commoners with commoner stats that are easy to lookup with the npc OR commoner tag. I need some fast names and generic art that is not attached to a book, but more attached to my DM subscription.
I'm sure someone has some art that can be placed into the commoner category as well as veterans. Basically, if the PHB 2014 doesn't have the picture then there is no token for it.
As we try to delv into using dndbeyond 2D maps, we DMs need some tokens. If I could upload some, that would work, but I'd rather your devs put in a few from your trove.
Also, just make a category for searching 'NPC' and we can pick from tokens.
Please start with the Tavern (since it's the #1 place that kickstarts adventure and information)
We need tavern keepers, bar maids, drunks, card player, person carring food and drinks, person playing the lute. ect
Or just let DMs upload their own monster tokens. That's one of the main reasons I could never use this VTT and instead use Roll20 and Owlbear Rodeo over it. I don't see any intuitive way to add my own tokens as a DM. I'll give them half a point for at least having them for homebrew monsters if you upload the small image, but that's not flexible enough.
As well as what Athanar90 said above, I would love more customizeable tokens. I'd also very much like to see placeable text we can write, as well as sticky notes we can write on. And I realise this, but I want Maps to be more like how the 1.0 version of Owlbear Rodeo was.
Maybe tables from books we own could be implemented as well, popping up to the side like Stat Blocks do. I'd love to have the tables for random loot, random names (XGtE), and so on all on the same screen.

You have to make the monster to provide the statblock for the encounter.
