For years now I've heard that beyond was planning on expanding the homebrew possibilities. Things I've been hoping to see were homebrew classes, but at the very least, when making options, I'd like to see modifiers among the possibilities too. This has been bothering me, limiting me.
I would love if beyond finally did something with this. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Well, homebrew subclasses are currently a thing; I think homebrew base classes are not because then you could just make homebrew versions of every existing class & never pay for a book. As for modifiers: what exactly do you mean? Like, changing the way modifiers work, or do you mean racial ability modifiers? If it's the former, that wouldn't really work with a character builder using D&D core rules built in. If the latter, that's already a thing you can do by making a homebrew race.
The problem isn't one of choice, but of technical feasibility. As far as I understand, in order to have homebrew classes, we'd need a massive overhaul of the homebrew engine in order to ensure compatibility between the homebrew system and the character sheet.
Other then artificer aren't all the classes already free? It's subclasses that come in the books. So literally the opposite effect if that's the reasoning.

Not only the ability to homebrew classes, also much simplier things like changing a damage die type for a homebrew weapon
